Your Credit Union presents second contribution

CORNWALL | Cornwall’s annual winter carnival is set to return with a weekend of free activities for the whole family to enjoy. The 2014 Cornwall Winterfest Car- naval will be held on Family Day weekend, February 15 to 17, with a wide array of ac- tivities being offered in Lamoureux Park, the Civic Complex and other community venues. “We are now in our seventh year, and the festival continues to grow, thanks to the ongoing support of our sponsors,” said Winterfest Chair Jason Mitchell. “Our main goal is to celebrate winter and family by offering free activities for people of all ages.” This year’s edition of the festival will certainly live up to that billing. Among other things, the list of activities includes public skating and swimming, an indoor Family Fun Zone, wood carvings, live entertainment, children’s performances and maple taffy and apple cider tastings. The activities on Saturday, February 15 will be highlighted by a fireworks display at 6:30 p.m. “We’ve lined up a great schedule of activities, and the best part is that the activities are free,” said Mr. Mitchell. To help residents take part in the festivities, Cornwall Transit will be offering a free bus shuttle to various festival sites on Sunday, February 16 and Monday, February 17. “We’re pleased to be a part of this great community event,” said Len Tapp, Transit Division Manager. A new addition to this year’s line-up of events is a charity hockey game between the NHL Alumni Hockey Team and the local Law Enforcement All-Stars at the Civic Complex on Monday, February 17 at 2 p.m. The exciting blend of hockey skill and fun ensures something for all hockey fans. In addition to the game, fans will be treated to a skills competition featuring the world-class players and some hilarious on-ice practical jokes.
