SENIORS FIRST PLACER COUNTY RESOURCE GUIDE

In-Home Care Resources_________________________ Caregiving generally begins at home with family members providing care. Care may also be provided through licensed and bonded care agencies, which are privately funded. The range of payment is typically $20 - $30 per hour based on services required. These agencies may be funded with private funds or long-term care insurance. There is also a registry of individuals (see PIRS below) who have been screened and are willing or interested in providing in-home care and would be privately employed directly by the individual requiring the care. These individuals may or may not be licensed or bonded. It is possible for family members or others to be paid through the In- Home Support Services (IHSS) through Placer County. This program funds up to 283 hours of in-home care per month. This may include personal care services, cleaning, cooking, shopping, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADL’s). The number of hours provided is determined by the county based upon a formula that is used throughout the state. The Veterans Administration also has a program of aid and attendance that provides funding for veterans and the widows or widowers of a veteran for in-home care or assisted living.
