He also supports more investment in public transit projects like the Light Rapid Transit extension to Orléans and widening of Highway 174 as ways to both improve local transportation and also create jobs in the area. He wants to see school districts hire more education assistants to support teachers in classrooms “so that every child gets a qua- lity education.” During his own canvassing of the riding, Mbemba-Meka noted francophone resi- dents in Ottawa-Orléans talk about the need for more access to health services in their own language while both the anglo- phone and allophone sectors talk about jobs.” “The big issue is the economy,” he said.

Plans for helping deal with the problem of homelessness in Prescott-Russell has ear- ned applause from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The ministry sent the United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR) a letter of congratulations for its 10-year plan for dealing with social housing needs in the region.
