A Year in Review - 2023

Celebrating our nurses Team lunches, staff awards, and Amazing Race days were among this year’s celebrations for International Nurses Day.

The day is marked annually on 12 May, with the 2023 theme being: ‘Our Nurses, Our Future’. NSLHD Director, Nursing and Midwifery Services Claire Harris said this theme sets out what the International Council of Nurses wants for nursing in the future to address global health challenges. “We need to learn from the lessons of the pandemic and translate these into actions for the future that ensure nurses are protected, respected and valued,” Claire said. “Nurses are there for some of the hardest days of people’s lives, and some of their best”. “When I walk through our hospitals, community health centres or services, I always find myself struck by the care and compassion you all show to our patients and consumers, their families, and one another”. “Today is about celebrating you and the exceptional care, devotion and the kindness you all provide to our patients and their families. “I could not be prouder of all of you, and I thank you for all that you do.”
