ROCKLAND | After a one-year hiatus, the track-and-field program at Rockland Dis- trict High School is back on track. Ryan Wilkes is on board as the new track- and-field coach for RDHS. Last year there was no regular competitive track-and-field season for RDHS for a variety of reasons. Wilkes’ background includes a degree from State University of New York (Potsdam campus). One of his main sports is football and he also referees junior in his spare time. Pre-season training for this year’s crop of track-and-field athletes has begun. Wilkes has about 40 potential team members for both the junior and senior squads. “We have a couple of Lions (track-and- field club) competitors too,” Wilkes said. “Right now we’re looking at doing some py- lometrics and weight training. Do as much as we can to get them ready before we take them outside.” GREGG CHAMBERLAIN GREGG.CHAMBERLAIN@EAP.ON.CA
