This is where GENETICS, CONFORMATION,TRADITION come together...

Welcome to Laramie! We hope you have a great time! A lot of memories have been made here at Come To The Source... Left to right: Valentine Red Rogers, Plenty Try, My Drifty Pride, Ruano Rojo Behind: Wyo Blue Bonnet Many successful breeding programs have started out with horses from The Source. We started out as one of the few places you could get horses with Blue Valentine bloodlines. Our vision took a lot of hard work and planning. People tell us these horses are the best they have ridden. They write in with stories how their kids are learning to ride or competing on a horse they bought from us. Some come back every year, and others are finding out about these horses for the first time! We are amazed at the continued support, and thankful to be able to have a sale that brings in customers, old and new! Many successful friendships have formed here as well. At the core is a shared love of good horses with good minds. We are fortunate to have met so many people over the years, and thankful to have a great place to meet. Welcome to Laramie! GRATEFUL FOR THE CONTINUED SUPPORT...

Our concentration of Driftwood blood started with the Stanley and Randy Johnston mares. These mares were a blend of Driftwood, Poco Speedy, Orphan Drift, Sak Em San (son of Peppy San), Doc’s Jack Frost (sire of Sun Frost) and Captain Crusade. We bred these mares to our Blue Valentine stallions.

Stanley Johnston crossed these stallions on his Orphan Drift mares.

Blues Roan Hancock was one of the last sons of Blues Beard, and we thought he was the best one. He earned points both heading and healing and sired the National Foundation Champion, Laramie Blues.

Wyo Blue Bonnet made a name for himself with his gentle disposition that he passed along to his foals. Many of his sons and daughters are outstanding individuals in many breeding programs. His influence on our breeding program was hard to beat.

Bath Brothers Ranch Randy & Laurie Dunn T he last three years have been a hard adjustment, learning to live di ff erently without our daughter, sister, and “auntie”, Ashley Dunn. Ashley was an irreplaceable piece of our fam- ily, Bath Brothers Ranch, and the Come to the Source Horse Sale. She was a country girl at heart, who enjoyed riding horses, shooting prairie dogs, and running the side rake during haying season. She had a deep love for the ranch and could regularly be found feeding cows with Lee, tagging newborn calves, working cattle and keeping records. Ashely also loved documenting ranch life and sharing her inspired photog- raphy on social media platforms. She kept others “in the know” on the dally happenings on the ranch with her photos of snow-dusted newborn calves, sunsets over the Snowy Range, and her o ft en viral, fun and crazy Tik-Tok posts. In fact, Ashley documented ranch life so thoroughly that Randy could no

B ath Brothers Ranch - 158 years, same family, same ranch. When the Bath Fam- ily arrived in this country in 1867, they brought horses. For over 150 years now, horses have grazed this same prairie and been relied upon for work. We feel blessed to be the 6th, 7th and 8th generations on this ranch and have the opportuni- ty to continue raising great horses and passing along traditions. My ancestors, the Baths, came to Laramie in the spring of 1868. Th e railroad followed in the fall, and the Territory of Wyoming was formed. Th e Baths built the fi rst wood- framed building in Laramie in 1869 before moving to the Little Laramie Valley to start raising cattle and horses. Th e Bath Brothers had a long and strong tradition of raising good using horses and reputation cattle. In the 1930’s, they raised Remount Horses for the government. Th ey began raising Quarter Horses in the late 30’s, and became AQHA mem- bers in the early 40’s. My wife, Laurie, and I continue the 150+ year tradition of raising quality horses on the same ranch. We still use the family’s original AQHA number (#7965) as our Life- time AQHA number, and carry on the same principles that have been handed down for eight generations in the Bath family. Our horses are easy keepers with good minds, speed, bone, and immense cow and athletic ability. Our ranch is one of the oldest work- ing ranches in Wyoming and our brand is one of the oldest recorded in the state. Our horses are raised in big, open pastures alongside of the cattle. Our program includes grandsons and granddaughters of Blue Valentine. We have success- fully crossed these with Dri ft wood to make exceptional multidiscipline performance horses. We use the horses we raise and feel they o ff er the genetic strength to perform and compete in any discipline or arena. We are ranchers raisin’ good horses! ~ Randy Dunn

longer bury any type of equipment in the mud without it being public knowledge! Ashley loved the Come to the Source sale, particularly the people, passionately promoting the event, showcasing the preview on Facebook Live, and clerking out customers at the end of the sale. To say we miss her does not adequately express the immeasurable loss we feel daily in her absence. To our beloved Ashley - We love you. We Miss You. You are forever in our hearts.

T his spring we lost another piece of our crew, and our hearts, with the passing of Jeannette Haywood. Jeannette was a devoted daughter, supportive mother, loving partner, dedicated teacher, and essential component of the Come to the Source Horse Sale. Everyone who has “Come to the Source” in person un-

doubtedly saw Jeannette washing babies, cleaning pens, handling mares and foals in the sale ring, and taking care of anything else that needed to be done. You probably visited with her as well – she was an avid supporter of Bath Brothers horses, owning several herself, and loved talking to customers about the great value she saw and had experienced with these magni fi cent horses. She spent much of her free time helping on the ranch, from turning out stallions and branding calves in the spring to halter breaking foals every summer.

Jeannette lived her life demonstrating that you are never too old to set anoth- er goal or dream a new dream. She was the most true and loyal of friends and her outlook on life, strength and perse- verance were exceptional. Our lives, the halter breaking experience at “the little red barn” on Bath Brothers ranch, and Come to the Source will never be the same without her. Rest in peace, dear friend!

AQHA 50 year cummulative Breeding Award S ince Bath Brothers Ranch started registering o ff spring in 1943 we have registered nearly 900 horses. Our ranch has bred and raised over 5000 head dating back to the Ranch’s establishment in 1868. Since the 1800’s, all our horses have carried the Running M brand. Bath Brothers Ranch has used the Blue Valentine and Dri ft wood lines as the corner stone for our breeding program. Gooseberry, Ruano Rojo, Leo Hancock Hayes and Blues Beard were all sons of Blue Valentine that built our program to what it is today. Th anks to our good friend and sale partner Chip Merritt, who owned Gooseberry, we raised Valentine Red Rogers. Th rough Ruano Rojo we raised Like A Son Of Blue and through Leo Hancock Hayes we raised Hancock Wiggy Bar and Hancock Red Wiggy many other grandsons as well. From Stanley and Randy Johnston, we incorporated the bloodlines of Orphan Dri ft and Poco Speedy. My Dri ft y Pride came to us from Porter Willis breeding program. Th e horses we’ve raised from our Blue Valentine Dri ft wood cross have sustained our program for more than 40 years. In that time, we produced AQHA World Show quali fi ers in working cow horse and barrel racing. Along with countless winners in multiple events in PRCA Rodeos.

It re- quires working long hours, o ft en in extreme weather conditions, and is undoubtedly tough on one’s body and mind. While work on a ranch can be physically demanding, it’s also incredibly rewarding. Merritt Quarter Horses Chip, Kathy, Brady & Corey

The Start of A Tradition... It all began in 1880 when my great-grandfather, Vince Hayes, trailed a herd of good mares from Ft. Riley, Nevada to Thermopolis, Wyoming. His two sons, Buster and Laurie, continued the tradition of raising and riding top horses and sought ways to improve them. Around 1951, they purchased Texas Blue Bonnet, a son of Joe Hancock. They started crossing him on their own mares and in 1955 a Patron mare bred to him produced a foal named Plenty Coup, who went on to also produce many top colts. At about the same time my grandfather, King Merritt, brought one of the first Quarter Horse stallions, “Old Red Buck P-9” to Wyoming. As a respected horseman, King had judged the first Quarter Horse show in California. He and all his children were well known for their horsemanship skills. King and his son Hyde brought additional stallions to Wyoming, including Ambrose and Patron. Hyde inherited from his father the satisfaction of riding a good horse he knew he had raised.

Vince Hayes in the late 1800s.

In the fall of 1956, Ken Gunter gave Del Haverty the pick of the Red Man colts. Del picked a blue roan stallion named Blue Valentine. Del trained Blue to rope calves, tie-down, team rope, and haze dogging steers. Blue later was most famous as a steer roping horse but Del always felt he was a better calf horse than anything. Del sold half interest in Blue Valentine to Buster and Laurie Hayes. Buster and Laurie stood Texas Blue Bonnet, Plenty Coup, and Blue Valentine. It was quite an experience to see these studs out with the excellent set of mares Buster and Laurie had accumulated. The tradition continued when my mother, Dede (Buster’s daughter), married my father, Hyde. Hyde started breeding his Ambrose mares to Hayes’ Plenty Coup, then took that cross and bred to Blue Valentine. This program produced the stallions Gooseberry, Crow Creek (Lory’s top calf horse), and many good mares. Hyde and Dede then bought the other half interest in Blue Valentine from Del. Hyde felt like it was a great privilege to rope steers on Blue. In 1970 Hyde roped at his last Cheyenne Frontier Days on Blue. Everet Shaw, who rode his share of great steer roping horses, told Hyde that Blue was the best horse at Cheyenne that year. Hyde and Del both felt that Blue started out of the box quicker and could catch cattle easier than any horse they had ridden. The combination of Blue’s athletic ability and Del’s training made him hard to beat. Buster and Laurie Hayes

The Tradition Lives On...

There are a lot of people out there who deserve a big thanks for coming to our early sales, and creating programs around these horses. Many of you say these horses are the best you have ridden. It's rewarding to see so many successful breeding programs that started out with horses from The Source. We started out as one of the few places you could get horses with Blue Valentine bloodlines. Our vision took hard work and planning. We're fortunate to now have a sale that brings new customers and welcomes repeat buyers. The love of these horses has not gone unnoticed. After Madison started listing all the Blue Valentine facebook groups, she said, "He should be in the AQHA Hall of Fame. She put together one of the best nomination packets they had ever seen, and in 2024, her hard work paid off! It's an honor we can all share.

Blue Quarter Horses Carrie Frisbee www.blue9quarterhorses.com

I was born with the love of horses in my blood, my passion for horses began at an early age. I was riding before walking and planned from a young age to raise quarter horses. I moved from Wyoming to Colora- do to study at Colorado State University, and after graduating, I found myself working for KeSa Quarter Horses.

In 2010, I started working with Sam Shoultz and gained ex- perience with Hancock bloodlines, which became the focus of my breeding interests. After several years with KeSa and the Come To The Source group, I acquired broodmares of my own and joined the Come To The Source sale, introducing lines based on these horses.

Initially, I intended to keep one stallion and around ten mares, but the herd has expanded well beyond those num- bers. Horses are like potato chips; you can’t have just ONE! 2YHUWKHSDVWGHFDGHVLQFHSXUFKDVLQJP\¿UVW+DQFRFN broodmare, I have continued to focus on blending Texas Blue Bonnet, Blue Valentine, and Driftwood lines, occasionally incorporating modern cutting blood. I have become skilled in the use of embryo transfer technology in hopes to help preserve these older bloodlines.

Continuing the Legacy Owen Johnson (308) 627-1795

This marks the third year we’ve been part of the Come to the Source sale, and we’re proud to keep bringing good- minded, Blue Valentine-bred horses to town. It’s been a full year here at the ranch—with highs, lows, and everything in between. We welcomed a new baby into the family, tackled more trees than we care to count, and made some big improvements, including a stretch of new continuous fence and fresh pens at the house. Ranch work doesn’t slow down, and neither do we. We had to say goodbye to our stud, Blues Red Man Roan, a roan son of Blues Kingfisher. Losing him was tough—he left his mark on our program, and we’re grateful to have a couple nice fillies from him to carry it on. We also lost a Kingfisher daughter this past year, another hard hit to the heart. We’ve started using Junior, a new stud who’ll have his first colt in this year’s sale. We also picked up a young stud with strong Gooseberry and Blue Kewpie Doll blood—he’s got promise, and we look forward to seeing

his colts in the sale in the years to come. We’ve held back a few yearlings, and Dad’s been working with them. He still climbs on a few colts when he can - and we wouldn’t have it any other way. This spring was dry, but early summer’s looking better. The mares are in great shape, and the colts are coming on strong. Between the baby, work, ranch chores, colts, AND chickens, life’s busy—but it’s the kind of busy we’re thankful for. We believe in these horses, and we’re proud to keep building something that lasts.

My first efforts were acquiring some mares to keep the Blues Kingfisher line going. Then through Dick, I started keeping some of the other Blue Valentine lines. My passion is preserving the bloodlines of the great stallion, Blue Valentine, one baby colt at a time.

We’ve got one coming next year that means a lot - out of Megan, a mare Dick always wanted to cross with our big roan horse. That pairing was something he always hoped to see, and it’s a full- circle moment for us.

Baby Blue Man A unique mix of Blue Valentine. He has 5 colts in the sale.

Owen Johnson and Dianne Van Pelt

A message from Dianne... During Dick's last years, he was so happy to become acquainted with Owen Johnson from Nebraska. Owen is one of those individuals who is dedicated to preserving and improving the Blue Valentine bloodlines. He promised Dick before he passed that he would take good care of the last of his favorite Blue Valentine mares, and as long as they were producing colts, he would bring them to the sale on his behalf. He has done that, and more, and has helped me in many other ways whenever asked. Owen is living and breathing raising these horses and the foals show it. Dick can rest easy knowing our program is in good hands. --------------------- I attended the AQHA Hall of Fame Ceremony last Fall to see Blue Valentine inducted. It was a great time and I so enjoyed being with several generations of Merritts and sharing in their pride of their ancestors and others who were part of the Blue Valentine story. Dick and I knew Hyde and DeDe Merritt, and others in that generation and loved hearing their stories of good times in "Old Wyoming"; when cowboys were COWBOYS and only rode horses that could measure up! Blue Valentine was sure one of those. ------------------------ I hope to make it to the sale this year. I love seeing old customers and hearing about how you are enjoying this wonderful brand of horses as well as your memories of Dick. Hopefully we will see each other then...

Nobody would've been happier than Dick to see Blue Valentine make it into the AQHA Hall of Fame.

This year I plan to sell all our frozen semen from Blue Valentine Two, Blues Roan Hancock (Randy), who was a wonderful horse and probably Dick's favorite, Wyo Blue Valentine who consistently threw blue foals, Bay Roan Dividend (who Dick used to ride around the arena with no head stall) and Blue Hancock Cowboy, a big beautiful perfectly blue stallion out of Oklahoma with his register of merit on both ends and who produced many years for us outstanding colts. I plan to get out of the breeding business in the next year; so give me a call if you're interested in any of these great stallions we have used over the years.

An attractive blue roan stud that is a nice blend of Wyo Blue Bonnet and Rowdy Blue Man with a dash of Texas Blue Bonnet blood. The first time for this cross and he sure didn't disappoint. I didn't have many colts this year so don't miss out on him.

On the day he was born, we could tell this blue roan colt would be an outstanding stud prospect. His mother is a Dick Van Pelt mare we bought last year, and his sire is one of Vernyce's nice up and coming studs.

Sounds repitious but these are the crosses that have worked from the very beginning. Added benefit of Rip Rip top and bottom who was hidden jewel in the Merritt and Hayes program. Heres an opportuninty for a blue roan stud that has it all. Will be panel tested by sale.
