Grilling with Jeff: Pork, Sauerkraut & Dumplings by Jeff Karas, Engineering Electrician

OK its cold outside and you are reluctant to grill outside, but you still want a hearty meal, something to stick to your ribs! This is one of my family favorites: Pork, sauerkraut and dumplings. Its one of the easiest meals. Here is what you need to do: Ingredients: - 6-8 country pork ribs - 1-2 bottles of sauerkraut - 1 container of chicken broth - caraway seeds - bread dumplings Directions: In an 8 quart Crockpot put 6-8 country pork ribs, 1-2 bottles of sauerkraut, 1 container of chicken broth, and I always throw in a pinch or two of caraway seeds. Let it cook all day on low. I start it when I leave for work and when I get home it’s done. Next, the bread dumplings. If you are ambitions you can make them from scratch. It’s an all-day affair. If you want the easy way, buy them. I use bread dumplings that are made by a company called Chateau Foods, and you can find them at HyVee, Woodman’s and Sullivan’s. All you need to do is steam them. Lay a few of the dumplings on a plate, top with the pork and sauerkraut. That is it! If you don’t care for sauerkraut you probably won’t like this dish. With my Czechoslovakian heritage I grew up on dishes like this. Thanks and happy eating! (you can look-up Chateau Foods as they do have an on-line store, the prices are about the store price minus the shipping. )

Holiday Hams Creat Foods was happy to pass out hams this November to all employees! The weather held up, and it was a nice two days to stand outside the trailer and pass out about 700 hams and sides to everyone. Thank you to Mitch Karlin for donating all of the sides: mashed potatoes, stuffing and rice, and for taking the time to come out and help us hand out hams. It’s just a small way to say thank you and happy holidays to everyone at Crest Foods!
