OUR BREEDING PROGRAM
We breed and sell bulls specifically built for the real-world commercial cattlemen who are looking to improve their future calf crops. We primarily sell developed bulls that average 18 months old. These bulls will weigh more than young yearlings, and will be able to breed 18 to 24 head of cows their first year in service. We strive to develop these bulls slowly and correctly, so they hold up for long term use. At any point in the 18 month growth cycle, these bulls are culled if they possess bad feet, bad tempera- ment, bad performance, or any trait we would not like to pass on to our customers. All bulls are fully registered with the American Angus Association, and will have: actual birthweight data, weaning and yearling weight data, carcass ultrasound data, hip heights, scrotal measurements, breeding soundness exam, full panel DNA testing, current EPD’s, and more. Because of this, we feel these bulls present a superior value to our customers . They will hold condition better than a yearling bull. These bulls have been held by us long enough where we can get all the carcass ultrasounds and yearling measurements performed at our place – this data helps steer our breeding program, and if we sold yearlings we would not be able to capture this data. In short, we do all of this for you, our customer. We want nothing more than to provide cost efficient and superior genetics that improve your own herds, make you happy, and keep you coming back for more. Our cattle are bred for commercial customers who sell cattle by the pound! Performance cattle capable of: high growth, big weaning weights, high carcass value, maintaining moderate frame size, superior maternal traits, easy fleshing, excellent bags, feet, and temperament. We target a bull with a frame size of 5 to 6.5 that will mature at 2,500 plus pounds, and a moderate frame cow that will weigh 1,400 plus pounds through her extra length, mass of body, capacity, and overall volume. We find these cattle to ideally suit our environment and feed resources here in the Midwest. This seedstock creates the kind of feeder cattle the market desires for both high growth and high grade , while at the same time, leaving the big, long, deep bodied replacement females that display a wide pelvis for easy calving, while also having the eye appeal that cattle- men love universally. SELLING TO COMMERCIAL CATTLEMEN IS OUR BUSINESS! OUR HERD GOALS, OUR PROGRAM DIRECTION
THANK YOU! We would like to say thanks to all of our vendors, veterinarians, and sup- port employees who help with the Angus business. I would like to especially thank full time farm employee, Kenny Lundin . He does a fantastic job, works 7 days a week, and always has a great at- titude. I could not operate the Angus business at this level without him. Another thank you goes to Steph Medinger , who handles our office records and paperwork. Thanks to Spencer Meyer, who will help grow our program into the future. Thanks to Matt Meyer , who is integral in helping process new calves and chute work as needed. Thanks to Kristy Howell , who performs all of our graphic design, and website creation and updating. Thanks to Trevor Stillmunkes, Ronnie Trenkamp, Ashton Holdgrafer , and Maverick Scheckel, who help around the farm and with chute work as needed.
