Georgia Hollywood Review November 2019

AREU BROS.

I saw how underrepresented Latino and minority audiences have been for many years and I’ve always been compelled

to do more to change this in any way I can.

Leadford’s film finance and production company has worked on films such as Killing Gunther, Life of Crime, Life After Beth, and The Butler. Leadford has been in the industry for twelve years and counting. Now she serves as president of Areu Bros., handling finances, studio, production, content, and partnerships. “Ozzie and I have a lot of trust and respect, great shorthand, and there’s nothing he can’t say to me and vice-versa,” says Leadford. “We’re also both macro thinkers and have similar leadership style that pair well

together. We form a partnership at the top and even though we have similar skill sets, we’re in a pretty unique situation where it works.” Areu Bros. will continue to expand operations into technology, music, and real estate, while developing 30 additional acres of its Atlanta-based studio lot into recording studios, tech centers, and anything that they believe will help them champion underrepresented voices in media while pushing new innovations in the way of gaming, publishing, and merchandise.

“We bought this over-the-top platform. We’re going to do a lot of short-form content. The space is moving towards a Google campus feel. We’re building a state-of-the-art sound stage and recruiting short-form creators from around the country,” says Leadford. “We’re aiming to be the top short-form content producer in the nation.”
