TWO GARDENS SPOKE TO ME In sunlit splendor, ancient olive trees Still seem to brood, in old Gethsemane, Though sad, are many of its memories — This garden shares its pathways graciously. My heart was stirred, as there I thought of Him, Who bore in loneliness—His agony; He drank of sorrow's cup, filled to the brim, And bowed beneath the weight of Calvary. I saw another garden on that day; A place of bird-song, flowers, oh, so fair! I knelt beside the empty tomb to pray, And felt Cod's peace, His holy Presence there. Two lovely gardens spoke that day to me, And both had known the footsteps of our King, But one remembers most His poignant plea, Our Lord and Saviour's prayer, His sorrowing. The other garden told me of the dawn An angel woke the flowers, every one; And lo—the stone which sealed the tomb—was gone! Our Lord was walking by, God's blessed Son! So silent was the little garden, then — Close by, a bird sang its sweet song of praise; I bowed my head and thanked our God again For triumph over death—that Day of Days. Esther Heins
save his household. By water, the lifting up of the ark above it, these were saved. Noah and his family were not saved by water any more than those who were on the out side of the ark. The vessel itself is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that water baptism is an outward sign to the world of an inward change of an individual's heart. Water baptism is for those who have trusted Christ. It will never save anyone. It is something that goes on inside, which is the answer of a good conscious toward God. The baptism of an unsaved man will only serve to make him a wet sinner." Q. Imperial Beach, Calif. "Where in God's Word do you find the authority for using the phrase 'im mortal soul'?" A. We believe the Bible teaches that man is a tri-partite being: body, soul and spirit. The spirit that is born again lives on in a new life throughout all eternity. We do not actually find the words 'im mortal soul' in Scripture. I Cor. 15:53, however, tells us that "This corruptible must put on incorrup tion and this mortal must put on immortality." This refers to the im material part of man.
