he will have control over all. Jesus Christ was the only person who ever used His tongue perfectly. There was no gile found in his mouth (I Pet. 2:22). His enemies confessed, “ Never a man spoke like this one." Moses spoke unad- visably with his lips (Psalm 106:33). Job admitted that he was vile and did not know how to reply to the Lord (Job 40:4). Isaiah declared that he was a man of unclean lips and he was dwelling in the midst of a people with unclean lips (Isa. 6:5). Even the best of us have feet of clay. But Christ Jesus fully pleased Cod in every thing that came out of His lips, as well as His life. The tongue only communicates evil.

The material has to come out of your heart as you speak it. Jesus explained that an essentially evil man cannot speak good things (Matt. 12:33). Our Saviour further warns that we will have to give an account for every idle word that will be spoken. Someone has pointed out that when it comes to parts of our body, nothing weighs quite so little and yet is harder to hold than the tongue. James 3:1-12 gives us some helpful truths concerning the importance of our proper speech. In verse three we are given an illustration of small bits placed in horses' mouths.
