‘there are spots in the Bible I do not understand.’ ‘The best way to understand the Bible,’ said the worker, ‘is first to accept Jesus ■ Christ. Have you ever taken this step?’ The lady said she had not. The worker opened a Gospel of John and read ‘God’s Way of Saving Sinners’ to the lady, who, then and there, in her front yard, audibly asked the Lord to come into her heart. “ The next day the class met for the first time, with this lady and eight others present. The class has now been meeting for seven weeks. The new convert has never missed, and has tried to interest others. -There were eigh teen ladies and two children present at the last meeting.” The Power of Personal Testimony S EVERAL years ago a girl from a very worldly home came to one of the Eteri Clubs. She had danced, played cards, and attended theaters from her tenderest years, and though she had everything to give her what the world calls “ a good time,” her heart was restless and hun gry. The story of Jesus and His love was new to her, and she listened attentively, even hungrily. After -several weeks she was convinced of the truth o f the message and very definitely accepted Christ as her Saviour. She joined a church in her town where she found fine Christian fel lowship and where the truth was taught. In such an atmosphere she grew by leaps and bounds, and was one of the happiest Christians in the whole town. But she gradually dropped out of the Christian pro gram, until she was missed at Eteri, Sunday school, church, and the young people’s meetings. The only ex planation she gave was that she could not live a Christian life in her worldly home, that the ridicule and sarcasm were too hard to stand, and that she would have to give up her home or her Christianity. Various prayer circles and many of her Christian friends constantly prayed for her. After several months she returned—a very chas tened little prodigal-hungry for spiritual food, and yearning for the Christian fellowship that she had for merly enjoyed. She was so glad to get back into fellow ship that she worked harder than ever in all the various church and Eteri activities. Two years have gone by since she came back—two glorious years in which the Lord has used and blessed her mightily. But the constant burden of her heart has been the salvation of her family. Day by day she prayed, and saw no results. Recently a great tragedy befell the family; one of the members was killed in an accident. The girl was not at home when the news of the death came, but her father hurried to the church to get her. After he had told her the sad news, he said, broken- heartedly, “ Oh, Mary, you are the only one in our whole family who has any religion. Please bear up under this awful thing, and help us find the One who always seems to help you in times of grief and trial.” "His ways are not our ways ” but the Lord is using that great grief, and the girl who came back from the ‘‘far country,” to bring the whole family to Himself.

The following stones, told by different workers o f the Bible Institute at the November Report Meeting, bring joy to the hearts o f those interested in the salvation o f souls, and prove that God still “works in a mysterious way His wonders to perform — o— What the Women Students are Doing [HERE are 173 girls enrolled in the Day Depart ment of the Bible Institute, 97 of whom live in the dormitory under the capable leadership of Miss Mabel Culter, Superintendent of Women. Miss Culter reports that these students represent twenty-seven different denominations, and that thirty-two of them have had more than a high-school training, with one medical, and ten college or university graduates. In spite of the fact that eighty-four of these girls are virtually working their way through school, they are active in practical work, having some 2,437 persons under their teaching. This work is conducted along various lines, such as, Euodia clubs, home classes, Juvenile Hall, teach ing foreigners, Jewish work, jail work, Girl Reserve lead ers, hospital visitation, and Sunday-school classes. Some Interesting Statistics D URING the past year, the men students who are working their way through the Bible Institute, spent 54,716 hours in cafeterias, driving cars, and doing odd jobs. In spite of this, they spent over 20,000 hours in practical work, such as shop meetings, street meetings, teaching Sunday-school classes, etc. More than 1,400 Sunday-school classes were taught, and 1,642 shop meet ings were participated in by these men. During the last week of October, 11,500 people were reached by the students in their practical work assign ments. Fifty-two students had the pleasure of dealing individually with 138 persons, 17. of whom professed conversion. The room on the roof of the building, formerly used for broadcasting, has been set aside as a place of prayer where the men receive the power from God that makes all this work possible. The Best Way to Understand the Bible T HIS Summer,” Miss Lee reports, “we moved into a new neighborhood and desired to have a Bible class in the home. We made this a matter of prayer, and then pro ceeded to do house-to-house visitation. In the course of 'calling, a card was handed to a lady who, on reading it, •caught sight of the words, Bible Institute. ‘Bible Insti tute!’ she exclaimed. ‘I have always wanted to go there.’ The worker told her she was from the Bible Institute, and ¿asked if she would be interested in attending a Bible class in the neighborhood. She had never been in a Bible class ¿and wanted to study the Bible, ‘You know,’ she said,
