S/WING: A Celebration of Flight, Sport & Tradition
Experience the Arts — Outside Every Day! Capturing the fluid motions of a bird’s flight and a golfer’s swing, the sculpture “S/WING” by Ivan Depeña combines these graceful movements, while paying homage to cultural tradition. Dynamically shaped like a bird’s wings during flight, the piece reflects on the Shawnee, Wyandot and Irish-Celtic views of birds as guides, resembling transition and connection. Along with the avian influence, it embodies the iconic swing of golfer Jack Nicklaus and impact of recreational life and community created by Muirfield Village Golf Club. In Dublin, public art transforms everyday spaces into places of wonder, reflection and connection. Visit this new public artwork, a culmination of past and present in spring 2026, near the 13th hole entry gate of the legendary Muirfield Village Golf Club!
