PAYROLL PETS
Modern life is incredibly busy. Combining work and home life can be a balancing act, and recently, we’ve all been exposed to considerable uncertainty. Pets can really help our mental well-being and help us find some solace and stability in difficult times. We asked you, the payroll professionals, to show us your pets.
Here are just a few of your wonderful furry and feathered friends...
Name: Gordon, Gino and Fred Sent by: Emma Watson MCIPP, payroll and human resource manager, AWS Accountancy Limited “Gordon, Gino and Fred helped when working from home, as I was the only person there throughout the day. The days feel long when you don’t have the interaction and conversation opportunity that you would have in the office. I found myself talking to them about the plans for the working day. They loved it when I had a mid-morning snack as it usually consisted of a piece of fruit so they also had a slice. “When working full time and studying on an evening, some days could get tough. Having the guinea pigs really allowed me to take a breath. I would give them a cuddle or their dinner to clear my head, and then return to writing assignments with a refreshed mind set. “As I got closer to my exam dates, their enclosure was decorated in sticky notes with key definitions on. It got to the point where I was studying without even realising. The guineas are great company, with strong personalities. They definitely make working from home more enjoyable.”
Name: Sage Sent by: Karen Thomson MSc ChFCIPPdip FHEA, UK payroll director, AAB “While I do have pooches, Buddy and Baily, along with eight hens, I thought I would share a photo of one of my pet turkeys. This is my handsome boy, Sage.” Name: Lennox Sent by: Kate Winson FCIPPdip, head of payroll MSc FCIPPdip, Boots UK “This is Lennox, the payroll python. He was owned by one payroll professional for 25 years and we adopted him two years ago.”
If you’ve submitted your payroll pet to us and they’re not included, you’ll see them in a future issue of Professional .
