involvement in developing Davies Turner’s China Rail Service. “I looked for companies with just-in- time inventory strategies and suggested rail as a better solution. This helped us identify potential customers and grow our volume,” he said. At the time of the BIFA Awards, Miloš was about to take on his present position of customer operations specialist at Zencargo. While acknowledging the value of his time at Davies Turner, he said: “Tech-wise, in general many forwarders and other stakeholders in the supply chain are still using a lot of manual processes, which is one reason why I started looking for a role at a digital forwarder. “The need to optimise processes, eliminate paperwork, create efficiencies and improve customer experience is too great to be ignored.” Virgin Atlantic Cargo is proud to sponsor BIFA’s ‘Young Freight Forwarder Award’ to recognise and encourage the next generation of industry leaders. As well as rewarding the progress of the best young people, this award helps to highlight the vital role freight forwarders play in the growth and development of our industry.

“I was passionate about exploration and marine vessels, and I wanted to combine both by working as a sailor,” said Miloš Bogovac. “But my grandfather, who was a sailor for 30 years, told me I would often be away from home and suggested freight forwarding.” In Croatia Miloš studied freight forwarding and marine engineering, before moving to Vienna to pursue a business management degree. Established in 2009, Seetec Outsource has delivered thousands of successful programmes to a range of small and large organisations nationwide and helped many people into employment. Seetec Outsource provides apprenticeships and traineeships on a range of subjects at various levels.

“No one recommended the freight industry to me and I did not know anyone in logistics before,” Bobby recalled. “But when I started looking into it, I became intrigued by how it all worked. “For instance, with airfreight everything moves a lot quicker than seafreight. From an operational perspective everything is urgent – plus, you always have to think about how to interact with customers and suppliers.” Bobby is particularly proud of how his confidence, especially in terms of customer relations, has developed. “Before joining the

industry I had no experience of customer service. This was my first job so I did not know what to expect. It was difficult to get to grips with things at first; I was thrown in at the deep
