CERTIFICATIONS
Product and Safety Certifications Mi-T-M builds safe and reliable products. In the United States, the UL, CSA International and ETL are accredited by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). Generally speaking, all OSHA accredited laboratories conduct their tests against the same set of US standards and codes. Mi-T-M is authorized by the ETL to perform most product certification work in-house with NRTL audits to guarantee credibility. The mark of CSA, ETL or UL on a Mi-T-M product is an added assurance of safety.
CSA Group - the Canadian Standards Association - for standards development, information products, sale of publications, training and membership services. CSA International - for product testing and certification; also test to applicable US standards, which include ANSI, UL, CSA, NSF and others. QMI - for management systems registration. CSA marks appear on over one million products worldwide.
Intertek's ETL Semko division has been the global leader in the testing, inspection and certification of products for over 100 years, dating back to Thomas Edison's Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL) . The ETL listed mark is the legal equivalent of the UL-listed and CSA-listed marks, designated by OSHA and the Standards Council of Canada. When Mi-T-M products bear Intertek's proprietary ETL-listed mark, the letters ETL will carry with them a long history of innovation, influence and independence.
The International Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code establishes rules of safety governing the design, fabrication and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, and nuclear power plant components during construction. In the formulation of its rules and in the establishment of maximum design and operating pressures, the Committee considers technological advances including materials, construction, methods of fabrication, inspection, certification and overpressure protection. The objective of the rules is to provide a margin of deterioration in service. Advancements in design and material and the evidence of experience are constantly being added by Addenda. Originating in 1914, the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code is now adopted in part or in its entirety, by 49 states and numerous municipalities and territories of the United States and all the provinces of Canada.
