Ten selected geographies make up over one third of total I&R activity
Housing I&R output and dwelling stock for ten selected geographies, 2023
In this section of the report we focus on ten geographies in the UK which are of particular interest to Checkatrade. The modelling results are presented on the following pages to provide estimates of the number of new recruits and apprentices needed over the next ten years to align with the government’s plans for housebuilding and net zero. In total, the ten geographies accounted for £14.4 billion of housing I&R output in 2023, which comprised 34% of the UK’s total. The largest geographies selected are London and Scotland, while the smallest are Newcastle and Nottingham. In terms of total dwelling stock, the ten geographies account for 10.7 million dwellings, or 35% of the UK’s total. This ranges from 3.8 million in London to 110, 000 in Nottingham.
