stances are encountered so that self may be crucified and buried in the depths that we might live for others. “In lowliness of mind let each es teem the other better than himself.” HOW THANKFUL WE ARE for the sol id corps of young people here at BIOLA who have come, and are still coming, from many different denom inations from states across the Na tion, as well as from foreign coun tries, in preparation for the Lords service. This world desperately needs them. If you would be chilled and para lyzed to the very center of your be ing, listen to what Gus Hall — sometimes considered the Number I Communist in the United States, de clared before the eighth National Convention of the Young Commun ist’s League in New York. He fear lessly stated, “/ dream of an hour when the last preacher is gone. And since Christians seem to love to sing about the blood, why not give them a little of it! Slit the throats of their children and drag them over the mourner’s bench card the pulpit, then see whether they enjoy singing these hymns or not.” Yes, there is that statement and many more we would not care to in clude in these lines. Such is the con spiracy of Communism. The Bible tells us that righteous ness exalteth a nation, and a nation that is afraid to honor and revere God stands in moral jeopardy of its very future. DELINQUENCY, ADULT AS W ELL AS JUVEN ILE, must be dealt w ith in or der to strike an absolute balance. A little lass in the home was com missioned by her mother to dust the furniture. Naturally, this aggravated the child for she had been corrected sev eral times. An added correction was just the last straw and she turned to her Grandmother and said, “But Granny, I have dusted the piano — please, there is no dust on the piano or the furniture, the dust is on your glasses.” Sometimes there are things in our lives that must be removed or cleansed. The Lord Jesus said, “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye” (Matthew 7:5). GOD HAS DONE SOME WONDERFUL THINGS in His creative handiwork ■as revealed through nature. For in stance, there is a strange vine in Ja maica called the “Life Plant.” It is almost impossible to kill or destroy any part of it. If a leaf is cut off and tied to the branch of a tree, in stead of shriveling up and dying, it sends out white threadlike roots in an attempt to gather moisture from the air — thus to grow again. I have never seen it but, my, how the Christian should be like this “Life Plant.” God wants your life to send forth its roots that you may reach others for the glory of His Gospel. May His hand be upon us when discouragements and adverse circum
