Interesting to realize the Bible’s prophetic declaration, “For when they say peace and safety, then sudden des truction cometh upon them.” It is as Luke prophesied, “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after "America To Your Knees" America, to your knees! Your only hope is prayer. The world is filled with strife, Confusion and despair. But God is still in heaven, His power is over all, America, to your knees! In supplication call. America, to your knees! Your forefathers of old Loved God and served Him faithfully. For righteousness were bold. They read and lived God's Word, Honored the Lord's day— America, to your knees! Confess your sins and pray. America, to your knees! Now is no time for pride; In humble pleadings call, "O God, be on our side; We've sinned and disobeyed, We've wandered far astray." America, to your knees! Return to Christ today. The poem, "America, to your Knees" was written by Esther Kerr Rusthoi who recently went home to be with the Lord. She was the sister of our beloved friend, Phil Kerr, who also is in glory. Now they are united in the presence of the Saviour. those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken” (Luke 21:26). Now the Christian’s hope need not be confused or filled with foreboding and frustration. We are rather to be looking for that blessed, purifying, and comforting hope, even the coming of our great God and Saviour, the Lord 24
Perilous Times (continued) cometh with ten thousands (myri ads) of His saints.” James writes, “Hav ing patience till the coming of the Lord, for behold the judge standeth before the door.” Of course, John’s tre mendous message rings out clearly, “Little children, it is the last times.” Dr. Harold C. Urey, Nobel Prize winner, member of the United States Uranium Committee, the man who took part in the development of our atomic bombs, has warned, “I write this to frighten you, for I am a frightened man myself. All scientists I know are frightened for their lives, and fright ened for your lives. Other problems will stand today but the main race is between man’s powerful evil and his powerful good. The bomb is fused. The time is short!” We are in an era in which we sit upon a veritable “powder” keg. By way of measurements a kiloton equals energy or explosive power of one thousand tons of TNT. A megaton equals an explosive power of one mil lion tons of TNT, and a kilomegaton equals energy or explosive power of one billion tons of TNT. By way of comparison the Nagasaki bomb was in the 20 Kiloton class. Remember a kilo- ton equals 1,000 tons of TNT. Now, today’s modem bombs are us ually in about the 20 megaton class, and a megaton is equal to one million tons of TNT. Russia, of course, recently exploded what they reported was a 50 megaton bomb, or 50 million tons of TNT. Their leaders have said that they soon plan to explode one which will be even twice as powerful. According to our government intelli gence reports, Russia is estimated to have a stock pile of 20 kilomegatons. Again, a kilomegaton is equal to one billion tons of TNT. Our own stock pile has been estimated to amount to some 35 kilomegatons. Nasv 35 kilo- megatons would fill a freight train from here to the moon and back again 15 times just to carry this much TNT.
