It was "one of those days" When nothing went right! My son didn't mind From morning till night. He likes soft-boiled eggs But that day he said, "Why can't I eat popcorn For breakfast instead?" And when it was time For his afternoon rest, He said, "I don't need it I think I know best!" He argued about Each thing that I said— "I don't need a bath" And "I won't go to bed." I asked, "What's the matter? What's happened to you?" He said, "I think Mommy, That you've been cross too." So after his prayers I suggested he could Ask God to forgive him And help him be good. But when he refused I was not at a loss; I thought of him saying That I had been cross. I said, "All right, Sonny, Then I'll pray instead."

He looked much surprised But he bowed his small head. I started, "Forgive me, Dear Father, I pray, For surely I have been Too crabby today. If I were a Mommy As good as should be, Today my small son Would have listened to me. But Daddy and I Always love him in spite Of the fact that we scold, Please help us do right. Forgive our impatience For Jesus, Your Son, And help me do better Than this day I've done." My prayer was rewarded Before the "Amen" ''Oh Mommy, I love you— Please pray it again." I said the prayer over Then tucked him in bed. "Now you have to listen While I pray," he said "Forgive me too, Jesus," He started to pray, " 'Cause I haven't minded My Mommy today."
