Doll Charolais and Simmental Family
Dear friends and livestock producers, Welcome old friends and new acquaintances, it’s a great pleasure to invite you to our 46ᵗʰ annual production sale, March 3, 2026, at Kist Livestock. We would like to extend a hearty thank you to all our past customers, for their loyalty and support in our program. I hope this catalog finds all of you in good health, and a wonderful previous year. For us we had above average grain harvest for all but one crop. Our hay crop and pasture grass were average, though. We hope that all of you have been able to capitalize on the record cattle prices, and hope they continue for a long time. Our little family is growing leaps and bounds! April 11, 2025, Lewis became a big brother as we welcomed our beautiful Elaina Joyce. And by the time you read this, Dylan, Jac and the rest of us we will have been blessed with our newest addition, Callahan James a/k/a baby Jr. As you probably have figured out, the kids have been busy (lol) and Papa & Grammy are loving it! We are so grateful for this life we’ve been blessed with and may 2026 be a year full of health & happiness. – Harlan & Jodie David and Donna continue to love grandpa (papa) and grandma life. Another year has just flown by. We have been so lucky to have lots of family time and we were even able to sneak in a getaway for all of us last summer to a wonderful cabin on the lake. Making memories is the best gift. Jake, Krysten, Mason (4), and Skylar (1.5) are still living in Mandan. The kids keep them plenty busy, and Mason will start preschool this fall. They love visiting the farm to see “Papa’s cows!” Jake owns JB’s Wildlife Designs, a full-service taxidermy shop in Mandan. Krysten is a Realtor® with Realty One Group and loves helping her clients buy & sell real estate. Katie and Wayde are enjoying every day with their almost 2-year-old, Colter. He’s so busy and into everything but he is happy, healthy, and so sweet when he wants to be. Katie still works on the
business banking team with Starion Bank and Wayde is still with Mor Gran Sou Electric. Charles and Pam have been enjoying their growing herd and are blessed to still see them often! Pam has been sewing her retirement away and has been loving the extra freedom for grandma daycare drop-ins, being able to travel and get together with friends, and even some chore-time with Charles. Angela switched things up a bit. She’s now the marketing director for Advanced Surgical Arts Center and Dr. Honeycutt, and she bought a lot in New Salem and stuck a house on it. She still does the marketing for us, of course – now she’s just closer. Braxton (14) and Truett (13) love to play any sport and game they can. Austynn (11) can’t seem to go anywhere without her own herd of animals and even taking up basketball. Our oldest son, Joey, is still working on the ranch. His wife Amber has been an investigator for the Federal Public Defenders Office for the last 7 years. On New Year’s Day they welcomed their very first bundle of beauty, Miss Teagan Kay. Our oldest Twin, Casey, is still working with Bullinger Tree Services as a foreman and continues to have passion for his craft. His better half, Bobbie, has been with Nodak Mutual going on for 14 years, now. Quintin will be 5 in July and he’s a mover and a shaker with his mom’s sense of humor. Little Benson joined the crew last February, and Q is the BEST big brother! Wesley and his wife Amy are enjoying life with their brood of pets and even occasionally each other. Wesley is still climbing poles for MDU and Amy has been working with Bismarck State College. In what free time Wes does obtain, he’s out here with us helping any way he can. Our youngest son, Ty, is also still full time on the ranch. Ty’s wife, Blaisey, is working from home as a provider enrollment representative at Noridian Health Care Solutions and loves all the mom stuff. Everly (6) is a spitfire and has the most contagious and mischievous smirk. Emery is 4 and has found her adorable sassy streak with the vocabulary that puts us all ashamed. Little miss Ellie will be 2 in March, and we still can’t get enough of her smiles. They’ll be adding to their brood in May, so we’re excited to meet the newest little! We are so grateful for our healthy, happy, and growing family, we are excited to see what lies ahead. I believe that in both breeds that they are a very powerful set. Tremendous depth and thickness in both breeds. We do a lot of A-I in both breeds to improve our herd and use as many of the top bulls we can and try to buy the best herd sires we can find. Once again this year we will bring to the sale 100 Charolais Bulls, complimented by an additional 75 Simmentals Bulls, 30 Reds and 44 Black Bull, and 5 open females from both breeds. The bulls are fed the same ration they have been for the last five years, a TMR consisting of distillers, chopped corn silage, grain, and mixed chopped hay. We’d like to thank Mike with J&L Nutrition for all his help in with the cattle rations. He will be at the sale to answer questions, as will Harlan, David and myself.

The sale cattle will be at the ranch until the Thursday before the sale. You are welcome to stop and walk through them any time.
