Syngenta Product Recommendations for Bermudagrass Grow-In from Sprigs or Sod Lane Tredway, Ph.D., Technical Manager, Syngenta Professional Solutions Weed Control Pennant Magnum® herbicide • Pre-emergence control of crabgrass, goosegrass, sedges, and doveweed • Does not inhibit root growth in tolerant turf species like bermudagrass • Safe for application to bermudagrass sprigs or sod at the time of planting • Make 2 applications at 1.3 pints/acre on a 6-week interval • Second application may be tank-mixed with Barricade® herbicide to broaden control spectrum (see Barricade recommendations and restrictions below) Barricade 4FL herbicide • Pre-emergence control of annual grasses and small-seeded broadleaves with extended soil residual • Inhibits root growth at the soil surface, so should not be applied to new sod or sprigs until: o adequate turf coverage is achieved o roots are more than 1” deep • Make 2 applications at 24 fl oz/acre on a 6-week interval or 3 applications at 16 fl oz/acre on a 4-week interval Monument® 75WG herbicide • Post-emergence control of sedges, kyllingas, dallisgrass, bahiagrass (suppression), and many broadleaf weeds • May be applied to new sod or sprigs as soon as 4-weeks after planting (label restriction) • Tank-mix with a non-ionic surfactant at 0.25% v/v (0.33 fl oz/gallon of spray solution) • Allow spray to dry for at least 3 hours before rainfall or irrigation for best results • Repeat applications as needed on a 4- to 6-week interval Manuscript® herbicide • Post-emergence control of tropical signalgrass, crabgrasses, bahiagrass, and dallisgrass • For best results against these weeds apply the spot-treatment rate of 9.6 fl oz/10,000 ft 2 • Tank-mix with Adigor® or MSO surfactant at 0.5% v/v (0.66 fl oz/gallon spray solution) • May be applied to new sod or sprigs as soon as 4-weeks after planting (label restriction) • Allow spray to dry for at least 1 hour before rainfall or irrigation for best results • Make a second application 14- to 21-days later Acelepryn® insecticide • The only product that can provide long-term prevention of fall armyworm and other caterpillars during turf establishment • Apply 4 fl oz/acre for at least 60 days control or 8 fl oz/acre for at least 90 days control • Apply to newly sprigged areas once there is sufficient turf coverage to absorb the active ingredient (~50% coverage or greater) • May be applied to new sod at planting • Allow spray to dry for at least 3 hours before rainfall or irrigation for best results • Also available in granular or on-fertilizer formulations Insect Control
