A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 13

Year 13 students have continued to work really hard both in and out of lessons. It was wonderful to welcome the parents and carers of our Sixth Form students back to the school for our information evening. We hope that you all found this talk to be beneficial and we have now uploaded the presentation on our website for you to refer back to if need be. If you have any questions regarding any aspect of it please send an email to sixthform@waldegravesch.org. Both the PE and the Music Departments have now started offering extracurricular activities to all students. The relevant details have already been shared with Year 13 on Google Classroom. Our Year 13 Geography students are really looking forward to going to Spain next week. They will be departing from London on Monday afternoon, as they stay in Barcelona for 4 days, returning home Thursday evening. This residential field trip contributes towards their A Level, with the focus of the trip being data collection which our students will use in their NEA. Please can we ask that parents and carers encourage their child to continue working hard on their UCAS applications. As mentioned on numerous occasions, they should be seeking feedback for their personal statement from both their tutors and subject teachers.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

This book is written from the perspective of Charlie through letter entries, following him and his friends through their challenging navigation through high school and life. It’s a moving and honest story.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Macmillan Coffee Morning has returned to Waldegrave for another year! On Tuesday 26 September we will be hosting a bake sale in the main hall to raise money for the MacMillan Cancer Charity. We are encouraging students to bake a cake or sweet treat in theme with their house colours. Please remember when baking that nut-based products must be avoided. If you’re not up for baking, you can still come and buy some cakes on the day. Sixth Formers will be invited into the hall at break time whilst Years 7-11 will be allowed to purchase cakes at lunch time, so don’t forget to bring some coins into school! Last year Waldegrave raised £1100 in support of the charity. Let’s try our best to raise even more this year!
