A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10
With the days drawing in now, we are getting settled into our new timetables here at Waldegrave. With a welcome break from the heat of last week all the students are working hard towards their new GCSE choices. Our top epraise winner this week is Uma B in 10EAH. The top tutor group is 10SHO with an impressive 105 epraise points! Well done to Emilia L in 10FHE who has been selected for the U16 Middlesex & England Rugby DPP – a season-long rugby programme which is the first step on the player pathway towards representative rugby. The aim of it is to support the holistic development of young women in pursuit of developing highly skilful and adaptable rugby players and to prepare players to excel in a world leading future Red Roses team. Congratulations to Clemence P in 10PRE who after flying out to France to compete in the Olympiad EJOI has returned home with a Bronze medal! Next Tuesday, 26 September, we are welcoming parents and carers into school for an information evening. This will promptly start at 5pm with a presentation being delivered to you followed up with a short space for you to ask any questions you may have. We kindly ask for you to then make a swift exit to allow for Year 11 parents and carers to settle down quickly, whose meeting will start promptly after ours. We hope that you will find this evening to be very informative and useful. Please where possible leave your child at home to allow for us to be able to seat all parents and carers.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This book is written from the perspective of Charlie through letter entries, following him and his friends through their challenging navigation through high school and life. It’s a moving and honest story.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING
Macmillan Coffee Morning has returned to Waldegrave for another year! On Tuesday 26 September we will be hosting a bake sale in the main hall to raise money for the MacMillan Cancer Charity. We are encouraging students to bake a cake or sweet treat in theme with their house colours. Please remember when baking that nut-based products must be avoided. If you’re not up for baking, you can still come and buy some cakes on the day. Sixth Formers will be invited into the hall at break time whilst Years 7-11 will be allowed to purchase cakes at lunch time, so don’t forget to bring some coins into school! Last year Waldegrave raised £1100 in support of the charity. Let’s try our best to raise even more this year!
