Y11 Bulletin 22.09.23

A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 11 It has been another busy week for Year 11 students. They have received their Mock exam timetable and will start to prepare for these exams using support from their subject teachers and during tutor time. Our newly appointed Head Girl, Kate, spoke in year 11 assembly this week to launch the feedback form she would like all forms to complete so she has student feedback about school matters to discuss with Mr Sweeney/Ms Dhir and Mrs Bashford-Hynes. The tickets for the sixth form open evening on Thursday 19 October have gone live this week. Please ensure a ticket is booked through this link if you are attending this event. Well done to the following tutor groups who have earned the most epraise points this week: 1st place 11SAS with 59 points; 2nd is 11PON with 46 points; in 3rd place is 11PGC with 41 points. Well done to the Pankhurst and Eliot House Captains who have launched the House System in their first assemblies of the year. Franklin and Seacole will be leading their assemblies next week. Year 11 prefects are engaging really well in their various roles around school. Thank you in advance to the Open Morning and Key Information Evening prefects for their support with these events. Good luck to our Silver DofE students who have set off on their practice expedition today which will last for four days. We look forward to hearing about their time when they return to school on Tuesday. We look forward to seeing Year 11 parents at the Key Information evening on Tuesday 26 September and we hope that you find this to be very informative and useful.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

This book is written from the perspective of Charlie through letter entries, following him and his friends through their challenging navigation through high school and life. It’s a moving and honest story.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Macmillan Coffee Morning has returned to Waldegrave for another year! On Tuesday 26 September we will be hosting a bake sale in the main hall to raise money for the MacMillan Cancer Charity. We are encouraging students to bake a cake or sweet treat in theme with their house colours. Please remember when baking that nut-based products must be avoided. If you’re not up for baking, you can still come and buy some cakes on the day. Sixth Formers will be invited into the hall at break time whilst Years 7-11 will be allowed to purchase cakes at lunch time, so don’t forget to bring some coins into school! Last year Waldegrave raised £1100 in support of the charity. Let’s try our best to raise even more this year!
