Chain Speed, Feed Force, Service Life & Safety : It is well recognized that higher chain speeds and/ or feed forces (with attendant power input) generally equate to faster cutting speeds. It is also well recognized that faster chain speeds equate to a shorter service life of the chain, bar, and sprocket. In general, higher chain speeds result in increased wear, shorter service life, and increased occurrence of chain breakage and potential injury. For more information on safety-related subjects including "how to" details on the maintenance, inspection, and replacement of chains, bars, and sprockets; chain-speed calculations; chain sharpening; and trouble- shooting your harvester chain, bar, and sprocket - Oregon® urges operators and dealers to use the Oregon® Harvester Handbook, available from your authorized Oregon® distributor, or by visiting Oregon® directly at www.OregonProducts.com.
Important Safety Information For maximum protection, machines should be equipped with the appropriate safety attachments (Figure 1). Please follow the recommendations contained in your equipment’s operator manuals.
