What we do Drive systems from a single source maxon develops compact, precise and reliable drive systems. Motors, gear- heads, sensors, control electronics, and software are treated as a complete system and optimally matched to one another – from individual components to fully integrated drive solutions.
Customized solutions Where standard products are not
enough, we adapt existing components or develop customer-specific solutions. Our modular product portfolio provides a versatile foundation, even for demand- ing applications in medical technology, robotics, industry, and aerospace. Motors The portfolio includes brushed and brushless DC motors, servo motors, and frameless motors for direct integration. They combine high power density with dynamic response, smooth opera- tion, and long service life and can be flexibly adapted to different applications and installation requirements. Gearheads Planetary, right-angle, and strain wave gearheads complement the motors to create compact drive units. They pro- vide high torque, precise motion, and flexible gear ratios in a small footprint. Sensors and control electronics Encoders and Hall sensors provide the feedback required for precise control of position, speed, and torque. The ap- propriate control electronics combine the drive and software to create an intel- ligent, powerful, and safe system.
These motors featured a special patented innova- tion: the ironless winding. This enabled them to achieve high efficiency, while their long service life set new standards. This first range of motors was only the begin- ning. Innovation has always remained a top prior- ity at maxon. The small pioneering company grew into a global organization. Today, maxon employs 3,200 people worldwide, operates ten production and assembly facilities, and has more than 40 sales locations. The company remains owned by the Braun fam- ily. Five million drive units leave its production facilities every year. The range of applications for our motors is vast: from insulin pumps and logis- tics robots to a NASA rover on Mars, they perform their work reliably. It began with pressure from the authorities. To- day, maxon is an innovative company that has grown and flourished – without ever abandoning the pioneering spirit of 1961. That legacy remains deeply rooted in the company.
