The bulls were developed on a high roughage, low energy ration. The ingredients vary based on available feedstuffs at any given time. Currently our growing bull ration consists of corn silage, wet distiller’s grains, a little hominy, and a vitamin- mineral balancer. At times the ration for the bulls (when these bulls were younger) consisted of wheatlage or hay and cotton gin trash as the main ingredients. The bulls have not been fed corn or any other ingredient high in starch. The bulls were not creep-fed. This manner of development creates athletic bulls with good longevity and sound feet. This manner of development will not result in weaning weights or yearling weights that are bragging rights. Study the EPDs, all of which have actual weights factored in when applicable and all of which are genomically-enhanced, which have been proven to be much more reliable than actual weights.
