LOUISIANA UNVEILS NEW 2026 “I VOTED” STICKER DESIGN
Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry has revealed the official 2026 “I Voted” sticker, featuring original artwork by acclaimed New Orleans artist Terrance Osborne. The unveiling marks the sixth sticker in the state’s artist series and celebrates 10 years of the program, which highlights Louisiana’s rich artistic heritage while encouraging civic participation. Osborne’s colorful design was inspired by imagining what Louisiana would look like if its music could be seen. Voters who cast a ballot in 2026 will receive the commemorative sticker, continuing a tradition that has featured artwork from several well-known Louisiana artists over the past decade. ■ sos.la.gov

LOUISIANA BALLOON RELEASE BAN NOW IN EFFECT
Louisiana’s new ban on intentional outdoor balloon releases is now in effect, making the state 1 of 12 nationwide to prohibit the practice. The law is designed to reduce litter, protect wildlife, and prevent damage to power lines caused by released balloons. First-time violations can result in a $500 fine and eight hours of community service, while repeat offenses carry steeper penalties. The law includes exceptions for accidental releases, indoor balloon releases, and scientific weather balloons. Environmental organizations are encouraging families to celebrate special occasions and honor loved ones with eco-friendly alternatives such as planting a tree, flying a kite, or creating a memorial garden. ■ legis.la.gov
