Lee Roy Jordan memorials urged

The Greater Denton County Builders group is now officially a Dallas BA division following Board action at its September meeting. The new division presented a program on “Weath - erization and the Building Envelope” Sept. 24. Former Dallas Cowboys line- backer and founder of Lee Roy Jordan Lumber Lee Roy Jordan died Aug.30 at the age of 84. Lee Roy Jordan Lumber has been a Sustaining Member of the Dallas BA since 2019. Lee Roy’s son, David Jordan, is president of the company. In 14 years as a Dallas Cowboy, Lee Roy Jordan competed in three Super Bowls, was named All-Pro twice and participated in the Pro Bowl four times. As a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, the National College Hall of Fame, and the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, Lee Roy was also inducted into the Dallas Cowboy Ring of Honor in 1990. After a successful career in foot- ball, Lee Roy purchased Redwood Lumber Company of Dallas, the larg- est exclusive dealer of redwood in the Southwest that began in 1952. In 1977, after the purchase, the name was changed to Lee Roy Jordan Redwood Lumber Company. In 2003, Lee Roy made the decision to expand the facility and services offered at its Hillsboro dis - tribution center and re-manufacturing plant. Currently the Hillsboro facility handles all wholesale distribution of specialty products while the Dal- las facility is focused on providing builders and contractors with all their lumber needs.
