24th ANNUAL SEPTEMBER SYMPOSIUM GOES VIRTUAL! The 24th Annual September Symposium will be held over 2 days, September 29 & 30, via Zoom. This is the first time that the 7-hour seminar will be held virtually. “The chapter held four classes via Zoom in June, and they all went very well,” said Education Chair Joshua D. Garretson, MAI, AI-GRS, AI-RRS. “We figured it was best for all of our attendees to keep the momentum going via Zoom and offer them a great educational experience from the comforts of their office. Considering the great topics, I’m sure everyone will be pleased this year.” On Tuesday, September 29, the seminar is scheduled from 1pm-5pm (4 CE hours.) The topic is “Smart Risk Management for Ap- praisers.“ On Wednesday, September 30, the seminar is scheduled from 2pm-5pm (3 CE hours.) The topic is “Liability Issues for Appraisers Performing Litigation and Non-Lending Work “ This year’s presenter is Peter Christensen. He is an attorney, licensed in California and Washington. His legal practice primarily serves the real estate valuation community -Valuation Legal. He's the author of Risk Management for Real Estate Appraisers and Appraisal Firms, published by the Appraisal Institute. LIA Administrators & Insurance Services is the sponsor of this educational event. LIA is the Appraisal Institute’s endorsed pro- vider of professional liability insurance for appraisers. Serving a second term as President is Michael A. Descano, MAI. Michael, who is the Principal Appraiser/Owner of M. Descano Real Estate Solutions located in Cherry Hill, NJ, is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in both New Jersey and Pennsyl- vania and is experienced in the valuation of a wide variety of commercial, industrial, residential, and agricultural use properties. Michael is the fourth generation Descano in the real estate business. His Great Grandfather was one of the first Italian- American Real Estate business owners in the Delaware Valley, owning a full service real estate office located at Broad and Reed Streets in Philadelphia, PA. Michael is proud to say quality service is a tradition passed down through the generations and he strives to keep this tradition alive!
