proud that part of Vantage & Co’s legacy will live on in Birmingham, hopefully for another 200 years.” Rankin believes the strong heritage component of the project appealed to the judges. “The level of detail and craftsmanship we invested would have been evident and showcased our commitment to excellence within the industry. Historical renovations can be challenging, but in this case, the brief allowed us to seamlessly incorporate contemporary conveniences whilst preserving the villa’s classic charm. “We’d like to extend our deepest thanks to the judges for this award and recognition.” Looking ahead Working closely with “a remarkable team of architects and interior designers who share our collective vision of unwavering excellence”, Rankin says he’s excited about the projects in the year ahead. “These include a diverse range, from Class Q conversions and the renovation of a nearly 200-year-old industrial warehouse, to cutting-edge new builds featuring elements such as sunken gardens, basements with swimming pools and luxurious spa facilities, as well as a very interesting commercial project. We are already excited to submit our entries for the next awards in 2025!” On the subject of the 2025 Master Builder Awards, Rankin urges fellow members to enter. “Submitting projects for the Master Builder Awards is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work and gain recognition for your expertise,” he says.

T he renovation of an original Georgian villa in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter earned the praise of judges and won Vantage & Co Group Limited the title of Overall Master Builder of the Year. “It’s an incredible feeling to be named the 2023 Master Builder of the Year,” says Director Stephen Rankin. “The whole team feels blown away and humbled by this recognition. It has given us all a huge sense of accomplishment and pride. On top of all of this, we have won a brand new Isuzu D-Max pick- up truck and we can’t wait to showcase our win with it!” Having also won the Large Renovation Project award,

Rankin says the client didn’t even carry out a tender process as they had already decided they wanted to work with Vantage & Co Group. “It’s not often that a project of this nature comes around,” Rankin says. The villa could have easily been transformed into apartments, so to have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the craftsmen that originally built it over 200 years ago is a true honour. “The brief allowed us to restore and preserve the villa’s historical detail and architectural heritage, whilst bringing the building back to being a luxurious and contemporary living space, just as it would have originally been all those years ago. Start your submission early to avoid a rush job. Take before and after photographs as well as progress shots. Hire a professional photographer if possible to better showcase your work. Choose a project with something unique that you can really emphasise. Be honest about the challenges you faced and how you overcame them. Ask for client testimonials.
