FMB NI at Belfast self build show We were delighted when more than 10 member companies joined us at Selfbuild Live Belfast during a weekend in October. As well as receiving helpful advice and support, people also acquired the contact details of FMB members. It was great to have members join us to promote the FMB at the seminars, in the expert panels and at the FMB stand. Thanks to everyone who was able to come along to assist. We are always keen to promote the amazing work and service offered by our members.

FMB Cymru appears on ITV
Cymru Director Ifan Glyn appeared on ITV Wales’ Sharp End programme to highlight the impact of the construction skills crisis on our members. Glyn stressed the need to raise awareness of construction careers in schools, encourage under-represented groups into the sector to diversify the workforce, and level-up Government funding for vocational training to the levels of academic education.

Construction industry’s mental health service FMB Northern Ireland attended and presented at the first Building Mental Health Alliance (BMHA) two-day conference. It was terrific to see 170 delegates attend and highlight some of the work undertaken by the FMB in providing help and support to the construction industry. BMHA is a collaboration of construction organisations, including the FMB, that have launched an initiative to improve the mental health of all workers in the industry. There was an incredibly positive response to this signposting service. One attendee said the event was “exceptionally informative and illuminating” with the BMHA initiative and mental health in construction signposting via QR code “arguably the most positive addition to employee wellbeing in Northern Ireland’s construction industry that I have seen in my 40 years in the sector”. We encourage everyone to use these resources to support yourselves, colleagues and families during any challenging times ahead. Help is only 2 clicks away. FMB West Wales charity dinner Members from far and wide flocked to Tenby for this year’s FMB West Wales Charity Dinner. Guests included recently elected National President Chris Carr, Wales President Russell Everett, and West Wales Chairman Mark Roberts. We enjoyed plenty of networking, eating, drinking, and dancing, but most importantly, we raised money for charity. Members dug deep to raise an amazing
£1,800 for PATCH (Pembrokeshire Action to Combat Hardship) which works tirelessly to relieve the burden of poverty on individuals and families in the county. Our thanks to all those involved in making the night a success.
