W ell G uard F inishing S ystem ® Wellborn’s 24-Step WellGuard Finishing System ® has melamine enriched catalyzed sealers and top coats providing a furniture luster that shines deep from within the wood. Cabinet components are hand sanded to prepare the surface for staining. Wellborn hand rubs the stain to enhance the natural wood grain. Three coats of finish, including two coats of high moisture resistant sealers and one top coat of high molecular weight synthetic catalyzed varnish, result in a durable finish. Natural finishes receive two coats of sealer and one coat of topcoat.
F ace F rames
3 ⁄ 4 ” x 1 3 ⁄ 4 ” Kiln-dried solid wood stile and rail members. The center stiles are 3 ⁄ 4 ” x 3 1 ⁄
2 ” solid wood. On all corner base and corner wall cabinets,
the center stiles are 3 ⁄
4 ” x 6 1 ⁄ 2 ” solid wood. All face frame joints are precisely aligned with blind mortise and tenon, glued and stapled at all joints.
E nd P anels
1 ⁄ 2 ” Thick industrial grade furniture board with a natural maple wood grain laminate exterior and our WellShield ® natural maple laminate interior that is resistant to household chemicals. For all specialty finishes, end panels will have a natural wood grain laminate (does not match cabinet front). The top and bottom edges of wall cabinet end panels are banded with wood grain edge banding. End panels are machined to accept tops, bottoms and adjustable shelf supports.

All backs are 1 ⁄ ® laminate on the interior side. Wall cabinet backs are reinforced with 11 ⁄ 16 ” x 3 1 ⁄ 2 ” wood grain laminated fiberboard hanging rails at the top and bottom. Wall cabinet backs are recessed and stapled into end panels, hanging rails and shelves. Base cabinet backs are attached in the same manner; the top and bottom of the base cabinet have 11 ⁄ 16 ” x 3 1 ⁄ 2 ” wood grain laminated fiberboard hanging rails securing the back to the top of the end panels. 8 ” wood grain printed MDF with WellShield
S helves Wall Cabinets - Adjustable Shelves
All wall cabinet shelves are adjustable and made of 3 ⁄ 4 ” thick industrial grade furniture board. The shelves are laminated with our WellShield ® natural maple wood grain laminate which is resistant to water and household chemicals. The front edge of the shelf is banded with wood grain edge banding. The cabinet sides are drilled for shelf supports which are adjustable at 2 1 ⁄ 2 ” increments. Base Cabinets - Adjustable Shelves All base cabinets have fully adjustable 3 ⁄ 4 ” thick industrial grade furniture board shelves. The shelves are 10 9 ⁄ 16 ” deep and laminated with our WellShield ® wood grain laminate. The front edge is banded with a wood grain edge banding.
B ase T oe B oard
The toe kick for base, vanity, utility and oven cabinets is 1 ⁄ 2 ” x 4 1 ⁄
2 ” unfinished furniture board. The toe kicks have captive construction.
D rawer - B ox C onstruction Sides, Front and Back
The box construction includes 5 ⁄ 8 ” solid hardwood drawer sides, front and back with dovetail construction. The full depth drawer box is screwed to the drawer front with large washer head screws that allow for adjustment. The drawer has a 75 lb. weight capacity. Drawer Bottoms Laminated plywood bottoms are dadoed into all sides, glued and not stapled. Drawer Slides Wellborn drawers have full extension undermount soft-closing slides that provide smooth, easy operation. Drawer slides are fitted into a bracket mounted to the hanging rail. The bracket allows horizontal drawer adjustability.
