Hello, and welcome to our courses for adults at Alton College. We are excited to be offering adult learning courses at this campus from September 2022. Whether you want to change career, develop new skills, climb the career ladder or just want to enhance your knowledge, we offer a range of courses to help you achieve your goals.

Our venues cover a wide area to make it easier to commute. The courses available can be used towards your CPD at work, and will help to give you the qualifications needed to change career or rogress onto Higher Education.

Part time courses are a great way to improve your career prospects, learn new skills and meet new people. Here at HSDC Alton we’re passionate about making learning accessible. That’s why our part time courses are flexible, helping you fit learning around your work and other commitments. Online courses are a great way to improve your career prospects, learn new skills and achieve a nationally recognised qualification. You can arrange your study time to fit into your routine, in your own home.

We have a professional qualified Adult Careers Adviser who visits HSDC to provide information, advice and guidance to help you make informed and realistic choices about your education, training and employment choices. FREE COURSES You may be eligible to have your course fully funded if you are: • Over 19 years of age as of 31 August 2022 • A resident in the UK for the last three years • In receipt of Jobseeker’s HSDC is able to offer financial support to aid vulnerable and disadvantaged students. Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit (in some instances) or earning less than £18,525.00 per year However, depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to receive full or part funding for a course. ADVANCED LEARNER LOAN The government introduced
qualification fee (where relevant) is combined into an overall fee. TUITION AND QUALIFICATION FEE The tuition fee covers the cost of delivering the course. The qualification fee is collected by the College and passed on to the awarding body for your qualification. It covers examination, assessment and certification costs. PROFESSIONAL BODY MEMBERSHIP Courses leading to a professional qualification require students to register with the professional body. Any costs, including annual subscriptions, are payable directly to the professional body by the student and will be discussed at the start of the course.
Advanced Learner Loans to help adult learners manage the costs of Further Education and training in England. These loans cover tuition fees for a range of Level 3 to Level 6 courses. We hate letting anyone down but some of our courses need minimum numbers to run, so if you want to enrol on anything, do it as soon as you can.

FEES PAID BY AN EMPLOYER OR OTHER ORGANISATIONS A learner may have made an agreement for course and other fees to be paid by their employer. This is an agreement made between those two parties. Where it has been confirmed as part of the enrolment process that the fees for the learner are to be paid by a sponsor or an employer, then formal and written confirmation of this must be submitted to the College. If you require the fee authorisation form, email admissions@hsdc.ac.uk to request a copy. The College must receive the signed fee authorisation form or a purchase order at the point of enrolment, otherwise the learner will be asked to pay the full fees due. It is also important to note that if you (as the student) withdraw from the course, the employer will still be responsible

TRAVEL & FINANCIAL SUPPORT
There may be additional financial support available if you or your household is in receipt of an income based benefit. • You can apply for a refund of travel costs between your home and the course venue. • Financial assistance towards childcare costs, whilst studying your course. • Refund of compulsory uniform and equipment up to a specified amount. • Refund of Accountancy Technician (AAT) membership fees. • Refund of any essential books needed to study the course (including AAT books). • Financial assistance towards UCAS administration fees. • Compulsory/essential day trips or residentials as advised by the trip organiser.

REFUNDS
Refunds will only be considered in the following circumstances: The College closes the course or changes the day, time or venue of a previously advertised course. • Serious illness or hospitalisation of the learner evidenced by medical certificates. Any refund granted will be based on the remaining classes of the course after a claim has been received. • Serious illness or hospitalisation of a partner, parent or child necessitating full time care by the learner, confirmed by a medical certificate. Any refund granted will be based on the remaining classes of the course after a claim has been received. • Other exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the College. In the first instance, an application in writing should be made to the Finance Manager. • No refunds are made if the learner leaves or is suspended or is excluded in accordance with the College Disciplinary Code.
Where the above exceptional circumstances do not apply the following refund terms apply: • Before a course starts - full refund (minus a £25 admin fee). • Refunds may be permitted for learners who withdraw within the first six weeks or before the middle of the course if the course is a full academic year (minus a £25 admin fee). • No course refunds are permitted after mid-point unless there are exceptional circumstances. Students travel to HSDC Alton from across Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and West Sussex. There are a variety of easy ways to get here.
CAR There is plenty of parking available to the rear of the College off Edward Road, GU34 2HU, including visitor and disabled parking. Staff and students are advised to use this car park. TRAIN The station is a short walk from campus and tickets are available from southwesternrailway.com. BUS The brilliant annual UniRider ticket is available from Stagecoach, which can be used to travel to College during the week, at weekends and throughout the holidays. stagecoachbus.com
