FARRANS APPOINTS HEAD OF ENGINEERING
Leading civil engineering and
building contractor, Farrans Construction, has appointed an internal candidate, Ross McWha, into the newly created role of Head of Engineering for the Civil Engineering division. Ross McWha has had a long standing career of 20 years with Farrans, joining as a Graduate Engineer with the Estimating department

and progressing through site engineering and pre-construction to his present role as Design Manager. Ross has worked on some of Farrans most prestigious projects across core sectors including the M80 Stepps to Haggs, A6 Randalstown to Castledawson Dualling, Cobh Lower Harbour Drainage Scheme and most recently Gull Wing bridge in Suffolk. Dominic Lavery, Managing Director of Farrans, said, “As the Head of Engineering, Ross will take the lead in design management within the civil engineering division. He is tasked with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s design management processes and will be our point of contact for consultancy partners that we work with in this division.” www.farrans.com
As part of P&K McKaigue Ltd’s commitment to Community Engagement and Social Value at its new site for Shankill Women’s Centre, Michael Kane, Project Manager welcomed representatives and children from local community groups for the unveiling of their works of art which are proudly displayed on the site perimeter. Small Wonders Nursery, Edenderry Nursery School, Empowering Young Women’s Group, Cross Community Volunteers Group and Hydebank Wood College all took part in the site poster design project. Also in attendance was Christina Black,
Mayor of Belfast City Council who commented, “This project will be an absolute gem in West Belfast. The contractor has worked in partnership with all of the groups to create these wonderful hoardings while building work in undertaken. “The whole city is so excited to see Shankill Women’s Centre finally having a fabulous space for their diverse and inclusive programmes.” Michael presented all the kids on the day with goody bags as a token of P&K McKaigue’s appreciation for their contribution to the unveiling ceremony. www.pkmckaigue.com

Manager Emmett Holmes and Senior Design Manager Danielle Gillespie who gave their insight of working on high profile projects at Gilbert-Ash. The group were introduced to the Lightbulb team and the Give a Hand
Programme and used their skills to construct ten prosthetic hands for those in need. Gilbert-Ash couldn’t be prouder of the team and wish them all the best in the next step of their careers.
It was a great opportunity to hear from more new and experienced members of the team too, with Grace McCann, Niall Kelly, Anne-Marie Hanvey and Sean McVerry who shared their experiences of life at Gilbert-Ash along with Contracts
