THE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S

Why Christ Came. John 3:16; Matt. 20:28. Our Lord made many statements as to the reasons for His coming to earth but we have in these two verses the entire message of Christianity. Christ came to earth because God loved; not because God was a stern -Judge and needed Christ’s death to satisfy His desire for revenge, but because God is the supreme Lover. Christ came because God loves all the world—“whosoever” —and wanted to reach all the world as He could not through a merely human leader and teacher. Christ came because God is generous, pouring out upon us what we have not earned and are not entitled to, giving us His Only Son to come as a servant that He might min ister to the poor and needy. Men are slaves to - gin, bound by Satan, and Christ came to free them with His own blood, to give His life for their ransom. He came to save sinners. We all need a Saviour. Christ came to save each one of us. He does not force any one for we are free agents. We have some thing to do, though it is very little. It is only to believe on the Lord Jesus, to have faith in Him, and we cannot courn on God’s help and guidance until we do this. Have you salvation in Jesus Christ? ‘What Christ Does. Bom. 8:31, 32. After Christ does His great work for our past, forgiving our sins, what does He do for our present and future? Since the Father gave us His best—His own Son,-—He will withhold nothing. Christ not only saves us from the guilt of sin now but from the power of sin as well. We are “more than conquerors through Him that loved us.”

Approach: This morning I want you to think real hard, for I’m going to ask you a question, and I am sure every boy and girl can answer it. Who loves you very dearly and BEGINNERS AND is the best earthly PRIMARY friend you have, Mabel L. Merrill that is some one that is living right in your home and that you have seen? Mother, of course. Does mother still love you arid care for you, give you something to eat and help you even when you are naughty? Yes, she does, because she loves you so much, and while it hurts her very much indeed every time you do wrong things, she loves you, and no matter how tired mother may be, she never forgets her children but is always showing her love for you by her loving care. Let us bow our heads and thank Jesus for our mothers. Lesson Story: We have just been hearing what a great friend mother is and how dearly she loves us, and in our story for today we are to hear about a friend that loves us even better than mother, and who could that friend pos sibly be that loves us better than mother does? Yes, Jesus loves us better than anybody else in the whole world. One day when Jesus was living down here on earth he was walking along near the river Jordan, and two men by the name of John and Andrew saw Jesus and started to follow Him, for they had been hearing about Jesus and what a wonderful person He was, that He could take away sin and help people to do right, and they wanted to know Him better. When Jesus saw them follow ing, Hp asked them what they wanted, and they asked Jesus where He lived. Then Jesus said to them, “Come and see.” My! how happy John and Andrew were to have, Jesus ask them to' come to the place where Jesus was staying. John and Andrew stayed all night with Jesus, and they knew all the wonderful things they had heard about Jesus were
