THE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S witnessed to His resurrection and avowed His return. (3) As soon as the witnesses possessed the news they became preachers of the resurrection. So should we. (4) The risen Lord greets us with “All Hail” and gives us power. (5) The crucifixion crushed the faith of the disciples, but the resurrec tion restored it. (6) No fact in history is more firmly founded than is the resurrection of Jesus. (7) For true believers, the gloom of the grave is gone forever. (8) Because He lives we shall live also. Jesus Is Alive. “After many years of ministry, Dr. Dale, of Birmingham, read the Bible with new light, and standing up in his study, exclaimed, “Jesus is alive,” and went forth to preach LESSON with new power. Resurrection Life Cleanses and Sustains. On the English coast, it is said, there is a certain fountain which lies within the tide line. Twice each day the tide spreads pver it, and the pure, sweet waters are defiled, and spoiled by the bitter waves. But the tide goes down and the fountain is clear again. What a picture of the soul trusting in the living Christ. The billows of this world’s sins sweep over the soul but the refreshing spring of Christ’s resurrec tion life washes it clear. An advertising devic^ was seen in the

shop window of a drug store on Broad way, New York. It consisted of a glass globe which seemed to be filled. with water in which gold fish were swimming about. In the center of the globe, ap parently in the water, a canary bird was hopping about, entirely at his ease, with the fish swimming on all sides of him. The bird and fish were living in different elements. So is the Christian who is in Christ. He is supplied with life from above, while the unsaved man next to him has only earthly physical life. The Hope of Resurrection. In the course of his wandering among the Pyramids of Egypt, Lord Lindsay, the celebrated English teacher, acci dently came across a mummy, the in scription upon which proved to be at least 2000 years old. In examining the mummy he found in one of its closed hands a small root. Wondering how long vegetable life could last, he took the little bulb from that closed hand, planted it in a sunny soil, and in the course of'time to his astonishment, that root burst forth and bloomed into a beautiful flower. Mrs. S. H. Bradford, an American poetess, heard of the inci dent and wrote the following: “Suns rose and set, years came and went; The dead man kept his treasure well, Nations were born and turned to dust, While life was hidden in that shell. The shrivelled hand is robbed at last, The seed is buried in the earth; When, lo! the life, long hidden there Into a glorious flower bursts forth.” Then will I lay me down in peace, When called to leave this vale of tears, For, “In my flesh shall I see God, E’en though I sleep two thousand years.” Death for the time being is the tri umph of the enemy. There was no man, in this country, more used in
