Who Doesn’t Love Tom Jackson? An Exclusive LIFE & STYLE Interview

STYLED FOR SUCCESS

always have the equipment. We need to help as we will be rewarded. It may not be tangible but it’s powerful, addictive and will last an eternity. We MUST talk about your wonderful style! Can you describe your philosophy of ‘dress for success’? You can’t get behind the lines if you’re not wearing the right uniform. My mom always said to me, “If you’re unsure, always overdress.” I take that very seriously. As a young man, I used to walk with my head down studying the cracks in the sidewalks. My mom said, “If you keep doing

You are amazing! Author, actor, activist, musician, producer, philosopher, philanthropist, style icon – how do you find time for all the things you’re involved in? For the most part, everything I do is a labour of love. With those results, what I do doesn’t make me tired, it doesn’t deplete my energy, it gives me energy and gives me oxygen, without which I would cease to exist. Tell us a little about your latest release, “Ballads Not Bullets,” in support of the Canadian Red Cross. “Ballads Not Bullets” was an opportunity for me to create a project where I wasn’t thinking about its commercial value.

Bring your summer style to life with a bright, colourful shirt, a classic jean jacket, some great shoes and just the right accessories. You’ll look like you’re ready to take on the world!

that, you will never see how blue the sky is. Straighten up!” I told her that I am trying not to be seen. She came back and bought me a pair of 3 inch boots and said, “Put these on.” My mother taught me well to dress well. Every guy should have something respectable to wear that will make the room quiet when he enters, and he should also have something that won’t get noticed. If only one thing, own a shoe brush! The first thing people gauge you by is your shoes, they should be clean. What’s next for you? Is there anything on your wish list for the future? What should every man have in his wardrobe?

You’ve won so many hearts and accolades including CCMA Humanitarian Award, Officer of the Order of Canada, Queen’s Jubilee Medals, Centennial Medals, the Juno Humanitarian Award, the Gemini Humanitarian Award, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, Honorary Degrees from 9 universities, and you’ve raised over $200 million for food banks, disaster relief and the Red Cross. What is the secret behind the drive to do so much for so many? I try and get people to understand how I feel. What makes me cry.

They will understand what drives me. I don’t think about it, I just do it. My saving grace is to help others and I take that responsibility to the creator and all the people I love. It’s invigorating to get out of bed. Ask anyone on my team, “What do we do?” We save lives! When you are saving lives it’s really easy to love yours. Although I may not be equipped to live in the trenches, I am equipped to support those who can and teach others. We all want a better world but we don’t

I have a number of projects I would like to complete. Several things are still in their creative phase. A musical called Blue Water...lots of collateral. May hit the deck this year, if not next year. I am having the time of my life. I do have a new project launching within the next 30 days and it’s a FREE app (at the App Store) called the “Pyramid of Peace.” This program could possibly change the world and create a dialogue of peace unparalleled, for the human race. Now is the time. Watch for it.
