Clarence Creek It was a winning weekend for the Clarence Creek Castors as they caged the Morrisburg Lions 4-2 last Saturday night. Then, they came home to crown the Bytown Royals 6-3 Sunday afternoon. Samuel Gaudet was named First Star of the game against the Lions with two goals for Clarence Creek, including the game-winner. It was a win-loss weekend for the Vankleek Hill Cougars as they got their claws clipped 7-3 last Friday by the Bytown Royals, but then made up for that loss with a 6-0 shutout Saturday night at home against the South Grenville Rangers. Jonathan Lacroix scored two points for the Cougars last Friday night with Justin Labrosse popping in the other goal. Scoring assists came from Nikolas Ayotte, Trystan Lavoie, Jonathan Leblanc, Keean McEachern, and Jacob Victor, with Frederick Durocher in goal. Royals goals included a hat trick for Wil- liam Lachapelle, with singles from Jonathan Cauchon, Nathan Gonyou, Eric L’Heureux, and Samuel Paquette. The CCHL Prospects team beat the visiting Berlin Junior Club 6-1 during an exhibition game in Hawkesbury on December 4. The CCHL roster was announced the previous week, made up of the top 2001 and 2002 birth year players from across the league. Several players from the Rockland Nationals made the Prospect team, including goaltender Cyrus Martin, defensemen Aidan Hilton and David Lafrance and forwards Matthew Vermaetan, Cameron Last, Cole Craft and Simon Labelle. Forward for the Hawkesbury Hawks, Yanic Crete, was also chosen to play on the team. Jeremy Quesnel scored three goals for the Prospects team, while Last, Labelle and Crete each picked up a goal themselves. Martin split the goaltending duties with teammate Joshua Ward. Saint-Isidore There was just one game on the weekend for Saint-Isidore in the National Capital Junior Hockey League schedule and Sunday night ended in a hard-won 5-4 overtime win for the Aigles over the Gatineau Hull-Volant. Kevin Howson punched in a pair of goals for Saint-Isidore with singles added to the score by Miguel Crispin, Ismael Prudent, and Ryan Wells. Goal assists came from Howson,
Kyle Green, Connor Head-Smith, Thomas Lowry, and Raphaël Payant, with Corey Camirand guarding the net. Cal Bilmer and Devon Burns scored for Morrisburg and also assisted on each other’s goals. In the net was Riley Phillips. Etienne Agius-Pease was the First Star nominee in Sunday’s game against the Royals with two goals and a pair of assists for Clarence Creek. Scoring singles were Aiden Cannell, Samuel Gaudet, Kyle Green, and Patrick Lemay. Also assisting on goals were Gaudet, Green, Lemay, and Zack Lugli, with Camirand guarding the net. Scoring for Bytown were William Lachapelle with two goals and Mathieu Laurin with one. Goal assists came from Josh Barnes and Nathan Gonyou, with Tye Agardy in the net. The Castors play Gatineau December 21 and host Saint-Isidore Sunday afternoon before the Christmas break.
Team Vivier is one of the top 10 youth curling rinks on the U18 Ontario Junior Curling Tour and was almost undefeated in the Stu Sells U18 Tankard, which took place in Barrie over the December 2 weekend. The Vivier rink lost to the Deschenes team from Manotick in the finals. The Vivier rink, which includes Vankleek Hill’s Émilie Lovitt (left), Dominique Vivier of Navan, Caitline Allen of Vankleek Hill, and Paige Bown of Navan, was in Renfrew over the December 8 weekend, competing in the qualification round for next year’s Canada Winter Games. —photo Yves Vivier
