Try scuba div- ▪ ing today.” “Join us on the exotic vacation of your dreams.” ▪ “Don’t postpone joy. Dive into adventure with us.” ▪ “Want your kids out of the house this summer? Sign ▪ them up for our scuba camp.” Nostalgia. This hook works best on a more mature de- mographic, say the 40-70+ range, so it’s another one that’s a good choice for the scuba industry. The key is to spark happy memories of a time when your customer was younger and more carefree. Examples include: “Feel like a kid again. Sign up for a weekend trip to ▪ the beach.” “Remember summertime pool parties? They’re back, ▪ with a cool new twist.” “Summer, 1995. ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ was the hit song. ▪ Summer, 2025. We’ve got your ‘Diver’s Paradise’ right here. Come check out our new scuba playlist.”
Contrast. Here, we’re talking simple before/after mes- saging. Your hook needs to invite your customer to imagine what their life will look like once they learn to dive, buy the gear, take the trip, etc. By targeting their pain points – stress, boredom, need for a vacation, etc. – you promote the solu- tion you provide. For example: “Gravity got you down? Come defy gravity in our ▪ learn-to-dive program.” “Ready for something new? You can be a diver in [x] ▪ days. Sign up now.” “Stop dreaming and start living the dream. Our scuba ▪ instructors will show you how.” “Picture yourself enjoying a tropical island paradise. ▪ We have trips departing soon.” Remember, your marketing message must answer the question, “How will you make my life better?” Trigger the limbic system with captivating hooks and you’re more likely
