When the Arrow Flies

GIVE UP THY TREASURE

HAROLD’S love for Deborah remained unchanged. “Not only,” he said to himself, “unchanged, but unchangeable.” He had given himself to the Indian work during the months of a long, perilous journey, and now again he was on the Indian post. As he contemplated the future, he wondered if perhaps he could leave the task of Indian evangelization. But as he looked to the rolling green ocean of jungle where roamed those who lived and died without the Savior, he knew earthly love does not have preference over Divine commissioning. The answer to his heart was what has been given to all of the Lord’s followers: “Let go that precious thing He claims so clearly, Let go thy fears and all thy trust in man. Let go that treasure thou dost prize so dearly -

Thou can’t not keep it safely - But God can.” (F. E. M. Irwin)
