When the Arrow Flies

Some would underestimate the influence of women. The godly example of Harold’s and Harry’s mothers in the home, the concern of the Miss Van Dyke in their humble New York mission, and the steady, faithful Sunday School teacher, all these intimately caused their influence to be felt on pioneer mission fields. It is a day when many women are plagued by a vague feeling of discontent and lack of fulfillment. Some even in middle age are still engaged in a “search for identity.” It is a time when we are reaping the hollow consequences of emphasizing a person’s possessions above a person’s character, what one HAS rather than who one IS. The modern world would substitute the thin veneer of sophistication for the unadulterated simplicity of enduring values. But the true example of a patient, selfless mother will never be out of style.
