When the Arrow Flies

Milton and Marcia are two of more than 20 young Brazilian missionaries ministering among the tribal Indians in the extreme north of Brazil. The couple met each other at the first Word of Life camp in Brazil that Harry and I started more than 30 years ago. Today, 300 young people gather at the camp every week for seven days of fun, fellowship, and Bible study. It is here that hundreds of dynamic young men and women like Milton and Marcia are challenged to give their lives to God, and to take the message of salvation to those people who have not yet heard the Good News. Literally thousands have responded to that challenge and are now serving the Lord. Three more youth camps and one family camp have been started, each increasing the outreach of the message of salvation. Young and old alike are responding to God’s call so that today, more than 20 million Brazilians profess Christ as their Savior. Milton and Marcia, among many who volunteered for Christian service among tribes in the remote places in Brazil, needed preparation for the task. God made provision for that training through the Word of Life Seminary, located just 10 miles from the Word of Life camp. The seminary is one of the finest schools in Brazil, training young people to fulfill the Great Commission of preaching the Gospel to all the earth. Enrolling in this school was an important step in the lives of Milton and Marcia. Milton was saying good-bye to a promising career in basketball; he had been chosen to represent Brazil in the Olympics, which would have brought instant fame and fortune. And Marcia was leaving the comfort and security of a wealthy home, to live in a primitive hut, hundreds of miles from any point of civilization. But it was all worth it as Milton reached across the
