Industry Engagement Update
especially in areas where savings can be unlocked with no cost outlay. A standout example is our energy brokerage partner, where we are seeing thousands of dollars in annual savings simply by reviewing existing contracts. Sitting down with members, walking through their costs, and showing line-by-line how these savings are realised has been incredibly rewarding. It’s clear that when members understand the practical value we deliver — not just in advocacy, but in direct bottom-line gains — the conversation shifts. This is where the work happens: one venue at a time, ensuring they have access to every possible advantage. Another key part of our work has been strengthening our relationships with local councils. Acting as a liaison between our members and Local Government has already delivered positive outcomes, particularly in: Food licensing and approvals, Parking and safety concerns, Street dining and signage, Security and compliance discussions. By ensuring conversations are timely, clear, and constructive, we’re helping venues navigate systems that can otherwise feel slow or complex.
This is exactly why we encourage all members — across every region of Tasmania — to involve their HT Regional Manager whenever they hit a hurdle. Our role is not just to advocate on broad industry issues, but to support individual venues in achieving better, faster outcomes with regulators and councils.
