Innovation and authenticity were again on show at the 2025 Tasmanian Tourism Awards. Tasmania’s tourism operators once again proved why the state is one of the best destinations in the country, thanks to our unique and authentic products and experiences. A sell-out crowd of around 500 operators and supporters came together to celebrate another stellar year, with 30 Gold medals awarded to tourism businesses across the event held at Wrest Point Casino at the end of October. Products and experiences as far reaching as King Island were recognised, along with a number of new businesses and experiences as well as a strong line-up of Tassie’s unique festivals and events. The Award for Major Tourist Attraction was again taken out by Port Arthur Historic Site, while the Tourism Attractions category was awarded to Kuuma Nature Sauna based out of the Margate Marina in southern Tasmania.

The inaugural Local Government Award for Excellence in Tourism was presented to West Tamar Council, acknowledging its outstanding commitment to supporting and developing tourism in the region. The New Tourism Product Award went to Cape Raoul Cruises by Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, celebrating the innovative new experience that showcases Tasmania’s spectacular coastline. Tourism Industry Council Tasmania CEO Amy Hills said that the standard at this year’s awards was extremely high and it was encouraging to see a

East Coast’s volunteer-run Bicheno Beams won the Festivals & Events category, while Australia’s Wooden Boat Festival took out the gong for Major Festival and Events. Last year’s New Tourism Business winner, Red Rock Hut, King Island claimed their first gold in the Self Contained Accommodation category, while Evry Drive won the Gutsav Weindorfer Award for New Tourism Business for 2025. The 5-Star Luxury Accommodation category was awarded to internationally recognised The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel, while multi- award winning wukalina Walk again won Gold for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism Experience.
