AVX System User Guide
3.3.2 Motorized Z-Track
The motorized Z-track provides Z-axis travel. A precision cast-aluminum column supports the ring light or the stepped dome light. The height of the Z-track is controlled by the M3 software. The height can be adjusted to 152 millimeters (6 inches) to accommodate tall parts. The Z-track is mounted on the right side of the Z column. With this configuration, the system will accommodate only one lens.
3.3.3 Lens Options
To maximize versatility, the AVX system Z-column provides the capabilities for dual lens options including 12:1 zoom optics and telecentric lens options from 2X to 0.14X. For example, you can have a dedicated zoom lens and telecentric lens mounted side-by-side. Alternatively, you can have two telecentric lenses at different magnifications mounted side- by-side. The assortment of options is extensive. Refer to “Optical Specifications” in Section 4 for detailed information on the lens configurations available. The telecentric lenses that provide micron-level resolution and optical distortion as low as 0.001% across the field of view (depending on the lens) for accurate field-of-view (FOV) measurements. The 0.14X option enables field-of-view measurements which can encompass an entire small part up to 63 × 47 millimeters (2.47 × 1.85 inches) or a feature of a larger part. 12:1 zoom optics provide continuous zoom from 0.40X to 4.7X. In addition, the following auxiliary lenses are available: 0.5X, 1.5X, 2.0X. Utilize zoom optics to measure large parts which would not fit into a single FOV. Zoom optics are also beneficial for smaller parts where extremely high magnification is required. The following figure illustrates a zoom and telecentric dual lens configuration with the touch probe option.
