AVX System User Guide
8.5.3 Cleaning Critical Mechanical Parts
Critical components are covered and are not user serviceable. Should the stage mechanics bind or require service, contact your Starrett representative. The lead screws use a self- lubricating TFE coating, which is designed to last for the life of the product. Do not apply cleaner or lubricant, which could collect dirt and impair system performance. 8.6 Changing the Fuses There are two fuses in the power entry module at the back of the unit. If power is properly applied to the system but the electronics are not energized, the problem might be due to a blown use. Refer to the following figure for the location of the fuse module. Note: The AVX system includes two additional fuse blocks internal to the system. Contact SKE Technical Services for assistance with these fuses.
To check and replace fuses, perform the following steps:
1. Locate the I/O panel on the rear of the system. Refer to the following figure.
2. Unplug the power cable from the power entry module.
3. Pry open the cover above the power switch by using a small flat-blade screwdriver.
4. Pry out the red fuse holder by using the small flat-blade screwdriver.
5. Check the existing fuses for electrical continuity.
6. Replace any blown fuse with a fresh fuse of the same size and type. The fuse holder can hold two 6.3 × 32 millimeter (1/4 × 1-1/4 inch) 6 ampere, 250 VAC time delay fuses (Starrett part number 5595).
7. After replacing the fuses, press in the red fuse holder.
8. Press in the cover above the power switch.
9. Plug in the power cable.
