3.1 Overview The AVX system is a large format CNC multi-sensor inspection system. The highly versatile and modular design of the system includes a large X-Y-Z stage of travel (550 x 400 x 250 millimeters), dual camera options, and high-speed positioning. The AVX is ideal for use in quality control laboratories, research, engineering, or manufacturing environments where large parts with many intricate features need inspection.

3.2 Features and Capabilities

The AVX system includes the following features and capabilities:

• Large X-Y-Z stage of travel: 550 × 400 × 250 millimeters (22 × 16 × 10 inches)

• Dual camera configurations (telecentric and zoom options available) enable the user to make measurements on both the macro and micro levels with one system without changing lenses or recalibrating the system. • A 1.3 megapixel (MP) digital video camera with a one-third inch interline SXVGA (Super eXtended Video Graphics Array image) is available for zoom optics. A 5 megapixel monochromatic camera is available for telecentric optics.

• Dedicated 12:1 CNC zoom optics with a choice of .5x, 1.5x and 2.0x auxiliary lenses.

• Telecentric lenses with options ranging from 0.14X to 4.0X.

• Lenses are mounted using a bayonet fitting and can be changed by the user in a matter of seconds. • A linear guide X-Y transport enables ultra-smooth, high speed positioning and are driven by precision lead screws and servo motors. • A massive granite base and bridge provides superior machine stability and precision that can be operated in a quality lab or on a shop floor. • Includes the MetLogix M3 advanced metrology software with the DXF/FOV option pack. With this software, the AVX can import DXF CAD files over a network and make automatic 2D go-no-go comparisons to an engineering design by using video edge detection (VED), with no need for the screen overlays that would be required with an optical comparator.
