in bowls ” (Amos 6:1-6). 6. “It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine , nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak” (Rom. 14:21). 7. “And be not D runk with wine , wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit” (Eph. 5:18). •0 ----------- Outlines savings of our citizens are of more value than "to get there” or “to get rich quick.” This is scriptural wisdom from the be­ ginning. 1. As ¡to the Soul.- “What shall it profit if a man gain the whole world and lose his soul?” “Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.” “How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation.”—Mark 8:36; Matt. 6:33; Heb.2:3. 2. A s to Our Possessions. We should put security first, dividends are secondary. “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt; and where thieves break through and steal: - but lay up,” etc.—Matt. 6:19, 20. -A friend who lost his fortune said, “If I had put a few more dollars in the little Church yonder, I’d have had it now.” II. T he S afety Z one Many of us have felt the sense of relief which comes when out of the perilous tan­ gle we found ourselves in the safety zone; “The blessedness of them whose sins are covered.”—Rom. 5:1; 8:1. 1. The Zone of the Blood. “When I see the blood I will pass over you.”—Exod. 12:13 ; see Mum. 35:9-12. 2. The Zone of His Presence.. ' “Lo, I am ,with you always.”—Matt. 28: 20; see Ps. 91; Ps. 23. 3. The Zone of the Father’s House. “Let not your heart be troubled,”—John 14:1; “Forever with the Lord,”—1 Thess. 4:17.

"W oe to them s' . . that drink wine THE SAFETY ZONE “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.’’— Ps. 18:10. Read Psalm 91; which may be called: “The Safety Zone Psalm.” The “name of the Lord” stands for Him­ self and the Revelation of which it is the signature. This sermon is rather an application than an exposition of the text. 1 Introduction: Perilous conditions exist in the “con­ gested” districts of the city. The tangle of trolleys, trucks, autos, motors, passen­ gers and pedestrians is terrific. The police report an accident once an hour, on1the average, and fourteen fatalities during Au­ gust. Officers have been stationed at the cross­ ings to control and regulate the traffic, and standards set between the curbs and tracks on which are inscribed, “Safety First,” “Safety Zone,” and “Vehicles Keep to the Right.” The spiritual application of these sen­ tences is obvious. I. “S afety F irst .” A century of reckless disregard of life,- limb, trust funds, on the part of private and corporate interests that set their own gain above the public good has met a check. Society has come to the conviction that the health ,of the many is more important than the wealth of the few. That con­ viction has crystalized in the proverb, “Safe­ ty First.” .This means that the lives and Sermon
